Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Kelly.
Hi Sara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My path into skincare was deeply personal. I struggled with persistent acne from my early teens into my mid-20s, and like many people, I tried everything—dermatology treatments, prescriptions, and countless products—but nothing created lasting change. It was not only frustrating, but it also affected my confidence in a real way.
At the time, I was on a completely different career path. I had earned a degree in Psychology and later an MBA with a focus in Marketing, but I quickly realized the corporate world wasn’t the right fit for me. Still dealing with ongoing skin issues at 27, I made the decision to truly understand what was happening with my skin rather than continuing to chase quick fixes.
That decision led me to esthetics school, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. For the first time, I understood the science of skin and how to support it properly. When I applied that knowledge to my own routine, my skin began to improve in a sustainable way.
From there, everything evolved naturally. I went on to work in dermatology and plastic surgery offices, teach future estheticians, and lead education for a professional makeup brand. Eventually, I founded Covet Skin Studio, where I focus on helping clients achieve healthy, balanced skin through education, consistency, and a personalized approach.
Today, my work is rooted in the belief that real skin transformation doesn’t come from quick fixes—it comes from understanding your skin and committing to long-term care. I’ve been very intentional about creating an experience that supports that philosophy—where clients not only see results, but also have the opportunity to slow down, relax, and reset. I want every appointment to feel restorative, leaving them with healthier skin and a renewed sense of confidence.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—it’s definitely been a journey with its share of challenges.
Before I ever entered the industry, my biggest struggle was my own skin. Dealing with persistent acne for years took a toll not just physically, but emotionally. There were times I felt defeated and discouraged, especially after trying so many treatments that didn’t deliver lasting results.
Professionally, the transition wasn’t seamless either. I had already invested years into earning degrees in Psychology and an MBA, so stepping away from a more traditional corporate path to start over in esthetics felt uncertain at times. There’s always a level of risk in choosing a completely different direction, especially one rooted in passion rather than a clearly defined path.
As I grew in the industry, another challenge was navigating the overwhelming amount of misinformation in skincare. There are so many quick-fix solutions and trends that promise instant results, and part of my journey has been staying grounded in a more realistic, long-term approach—even when that’s not always the most marketable message.
Building a business also comes with its own learning curve. From working in clinical settings to education roles and eventually opening my own studio, each step required growth, adaptability, and resilience. I wasn’t just focused on results—I also wanted to create an environment that felt different from the typical clinical or transactional skincare experience. A space where clients could truly relax, feel taken care of, and leave not only with better skin, but feeling renewed.
But those challenges ultimately shaped my perspective. They’re the reason I’m so passionate about helping clients take a more sustainable, informed approach to their skin—and why I value honesty and education over quick results.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Covet Skin Studio was built on the idea that skincare should be results-driven, but also realistic, sustainable, and rooted in true skin health.
I specialize in corrective skincare with a strong focus on acne, aging, and pigmentation, but what really sets my approach apart is how individualized and education-based it is. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution here. Every treatment plan is tailored, and I spend a lot of time helping clients understand the why behind their routine—because that’s what leads to long-term success.
I’m also known for taking a more honest, less aggressive approach in an industry that often leans heavily on quick fixes and overpromising results. I don’t believe in chasing trends or pushing treatments that deliver short-term change without supporting the skin long-term. Instead, I focus on building healthy, resilient skin through consistency, the right homecare, and thoughtful in-studio treatments.
Equally important to me is the experience I’ve created. Every detail of my treatments is designed with intention—from comfort to flow—to ensure clients feel relaxed, cared for, and able to fully disconnect during their time with me. I want each visit to feel restorative and rejuvenating, not just another appointment.
Many of my clients come to me after feeling frustrated by cycles of temporary results, and what they find here is a more grounded, strategic approach—one that prioritizes lasting change over instant gratification.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built. My clients know that I’m going to be honest with them, even if that means setting realistic expectations or taking a slower path to results. That level of transparency and education is a core part of the Covet Skin Studio experience.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that we’re not chasing perfection here. We’re building healthy skin—and helping people feel confident in it for the long run.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping people feel genuinely confident in their skin—and giving them space to slow down and take care of themselves in the process.
I know firsthand how much skin concerns can impact your confidence and how you show up in your life. When you’re constantly trying to fix or hide your skin, it’s exhausting. That’s why my focus is not just on results, but on creating a more supportive, empowering experience.
Education and honesty are a big part of that. I want my clients to understand their skin and feel confident in how they care for it, rather than constantly chasing the next quick fix.
But just as important is how they feel when they’re with me. I’ve put a lot of intention into creating treatments that allow clients to truly relax, reset, and leave feeling renewed. In a world where everything moves so quickly, that time to pause and be taken care of matters.
For me, it’s not just about improving someone’s skin—it’s about changing their relationship with it and giving them an experience that supports both their confidence and their well-being.
