Today we’d like to introduce you to Pistol Pete.
Hi Pistol Pete, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved music since a kid. Whether it was oldies my Mom was playing or hip hop I began to listen to in middle/high school. (Probably too young lol) my first hip hop album was Word of Mouf by Ludacris. I loved his southern beats & his vocal animation. I began freestyling in high school @ parties & found a rhythm. Once I graduated I pursued radio broadcasting. I purchased a microphone & interface to practice.. I one day decided to rap over a beat on YouTube. I started producing my vocals & found a passion in creating music.
After doing this for a year, I decided to branch out with local producers and created a song called Kc Made Me. After it sitting on YouTube for a year I decided to shoot a music video for it. Once people saw this they considered me legit & I began being sought out by local promoters. From there, everything came together & I have evolved to a full band that plays with me. Funny how perception is reality for many.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Finding the willpower to pursue music after working a full time job. It tests your love but you gotta make the most of the 24 hours we all are limited to. Learning curves with live instruments has been a struggle but after a lot of time invested we’ve created a really cool sound.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I oversee Football Maintenance & Operations for the Kansas City Chiefs. I proud that I have worked my way into the team after starting as a stadium environmental cleaner. I now have held my position for 7 years working very close with players & coaches. I have been here for the come up & I’m still riding with my squad!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how everyone is down to earth. We have so many talented people all over but no one is big-headed. A very humble & tight knit community of creatives.
The only thing I don’t like is that the street car doesn’t go all the way to Waldo. Haha.
