Today we’d like to introduce you to Peregrine Honig.
Hi Peregrine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Birdies was founded in 2003 as an intimates shop in 100 square feet of a Film Row Building. FIFA and Open Doors awarded owners Peregrine Honig and Alexis Burggrabe a grant to move from their 650 expansion in 2008 into an abandoned 2,000 square foot former candy store. Intima’s Best Lingerie Shop of 2023 and Pitch’s annual regional darling, the inventory is unique and inclusive. Open seven days a week from 11am to 7pm, Birdies carries sizes 28A through 44I with a five star staff of professional fitters.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a well-lit space with enough rooms to out build four dressing rooms has eliminated our obstacles. Our employees are wonderful and our clients are loyal. People leave empowered and feeling cared for.

Birdies was founded by artist Peregrine Honig and her vision of a playful and intentional retail space has carried Birdies through decades of change. Grounded by co-owner Alexis Burggrabe and elevated by Creative Advisor Kasey Burmwood, Birdies is a steady scene of humor, intuition, risk, accidental viral scenarios and international collaborations. Antics and hard work have kept people curious and dedicated to the boutique’s beauty and chaos.

It is truly surprising how most people accept being uncomfortable or bend to the shape of pieces that don’t move with their body. Wearing clothes that fit properly is empowering and regulates a positive physical identity. Lingerie is your first layer and the foundation of your garment. It’s the last thing you take off at night- the final reflection.
