Hi Patricia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began with a passion for creativity and a deep love for natural hair. I started doing hair at a young age, experimenting with styles on family and friends, never realizing it would one day become my calling. Over time, I saw how transformative it was—not just in how people looked, but in how they felt. That connection sparked something in me.

Eventually, I decided to take a leap of faith and turn that passion into a business. I launched Pa’s Creative Hands (Locs and Natural Hair) with a vision to create a space where people could feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. It wasn’t always easy—there were late nights, tough lessons, and moments of doubt—but with each client, I grew stronger in my purpose.

Today, I’m proud to say I’ve built more than a salon—I’ve built a community. A place rooted in love, authenticity, and artistry. And honestly, this is only the beginning.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but that’s part of the beauty in the journey. Starting out, one of the biggest challenges has been building and maintaining a solid clientele. In this industry, that takes time, consistency, and a lot of patience. There were moments when I questioned if I was doing enough or moving fast enough, but I had to remind myself that growth doesn’t happen overnight.

There’s also the behind-the-scenes grind—learning how to balance the creative side with the business side, managing bookings, staying visible on social media, and making sure every client leaves feeling valued. It’s a lot to juggle, but I’m working through it and staying committed to the vision. Every step, even the tough ones, is part of building something lasting.

I’m still building, still learning, and still showing up—because I know the end goal is worth it.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Honestly, I think luck has shown up in little ways, but it’s really been faith, hard work, and my family’s support that have kept me going. My husband is always in my corner, cheering me on—even when things get tough or I start doubting myself. He’s that steady voice saying, “You’ve got this.”

And my girls? They’re my motivation every single day. I want them to see that you can follow your passion, stay true to yourself, and build something real. They inspire me to keep pushing, to keep growing—not just for me, but for them too.

So yes, I’ve had a little luck here and there, but I truly believe it’s the love, encouragement, and purpose behind what I do that has made all the difference.
