Meet Nikole Babb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikole Babb.

Nikole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I always dreamed of being able to travel as a living. Back then, it wasn’t possible unless you were a food critic or singer, dancer, or performer. I always thought, “If I wasn’t such a picky eater, I would travel the world and be a food critic! It would be a dream!” Fast forward to the modern-day, people now travel the world by writing articles, creating content, and working remotely. So, before I knew this was a thing, I took my first international trip to Thailand. I traveled the country high and low – for an entire month! I had the opportunity to travel with locals luckily, so I saw the streets of Thailand as well as private beaches and the best food you could imagine. When I arrived home, I knew I had fallen in love with travel even deeper and had to find a way to travel more. So naturally, I did nonstop research until I learned how to start up my own website for my blog and travel content account on Instagram. Back then, (2019), I mainly shared local hikes and areas to explore. Now, I share my international trips when I take them, local favorites, hikes, state parks, daily fun, and of course, most of all, travel content. In this process, I attended 2 of Dear Alyne’s retreats to meet and create a large network of wonderful people to meet up and collaborate with. This is just the beginning, and I hope you continue to learn, grow & travel with me! Everyone is invited.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. I took a huge risk paying for my website because it’s expensive. I was in an abusive relationship on my first trip and struggled to leave it. I struggled to support myself alone afterwards as well. I also took a huge risk going to Bali to meet up with Dear Alyne. I invested a lot of money into this! It can be scary thinking it won’t work out, but it would be worth it anyhow. And of course, grabbing people’s attention has taken time. No one I knew cared at first.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create travel content about food, activities, places, and businesses. This includes photos, videos, reviews, articles, posts, stories, etc. I specialize in exploration education. People that enjoy my content enjoy exploration, new places & different things. They’re inquisitive & always ready to adventure for no reason.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I suffer from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), and I have HIDS, (Hyper immunoglobulin D Syndrome), which is a rare genetic autoinflammatory disease.
