Meet Nature Boi of Westport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nature Boi.

Hi Nature, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started an open mic in a small bar in DC. I was about to have my first child and my own music aspirations felt further. A year later I started working with live nation dc providing openers for national tours. The pandemic hit pretty hard obviously but when everything started opening again I made my way to Kansas City Missouri and expanded the brand.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s hard running an open mic as an artist yourself and you have so many creative friends who feel like you should be doing things for them. The pandemic.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I can rap, sing, dj, produce and engineer. I am most proud of my work as a curator and a mentor for younger artists.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Be ready for anything! You never know and you have to be able to adapt as much as possible. It’s like show day. Anything can go wrong on show day and you have to be ready to adapt and make changes.
