Meet Musudeen Harrell of Lees Summit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Musudeen Harrell.

Hi Musudeen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a dedicated nurse, accomplished entrepreneur, and passionate advocate whose career spans nearly three decades of service, leadership, and empowerment. With over 28 years in nursing and 21 years as an entrepreneur, I have built a legacy rooted in compassion, innovation, and advocacy for those who cannot speak for themselves.
I am a proud graduate of Graceland University, formerly Graceland College, I furthered my education by earning a master’s degree in business administration with a focus in Healthcare from Western Governors University. My diverse clinical background includes Critical Care, Emergency Room, Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, Mother-Baby, Geriatric Care, and Home Health — each experience shaping me into the well-rounded, empathetic leader I am today.
As the Original founder of Blessed Homes, Blessed Health and Home Care, and Courageous Home Care, I have created a network of compassionate care agencies that serve individuals and families across communities. My leadership has also extended to the non-profit sector, where I have served on the Board of Directors for Blessed Homes, helping to guide its mission of providing quality residential and community-based services.
Over the years, I have established in-home care agencies, residential care facilities, adult day programs, and individual supported living facilities, as well as a community center that supports the greater community’s needs. I have opened an independent living facility for homeless adults aged 55 and older, giving individuals a safe and dignified place to call home.
At the heart of my work lies my greatest passion: advocating for individuals who do not have a voice within the healthcare system. I serve as a bridge between my clients, their guardians, and their physicians — ensuring that every person receives the respect, care, and dignity they deserve.
In addition to my healthcare and entrepreneurial leadership, I am a Certified Maxwell Public Speaker, DISC Personality Model Trainer, and Consultant through the Maxwell Leadership Program. Under my speaking platform, Inspiring Words, I motivate caregivers, community leaders, and professionals to find their courage, speak with purpose, and lead with compassion.
I am married and a proud mother of three, my work reflects my unwavering belief in service, faith, and the transformative power of advocacy. Every story I share and every life I touch continues to echo my lifelong commitment: to empower others, uplift communities, and be a voice for the voiceless.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road becoming an entrepreneur, a leader, and an advocate.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that perseverance is the key.
Not giving up on the things I am passionate about is what makes every challenge worth it.
One of the biggest obstacles on my journey has been developing my own character.
Before I could lead anyone else, I had to learn who I was as a woman, as a leader, and as an individual. That self -work those quiet moments of honesty and growth became the foundation for everything else I would build.
Another challenge has been meeting people where they are.
Leadership isn’t about dragging people to where you want them to be. It’s about helping them see the leader inside themselves. Sometimes, people don’t want to go the extra mile, even when you can clearly see their potential. And as a leader, that can hurt.
But at the end of the day, I know that every lesson, every struggle, and every moment of growth is worth it.
Because perseverance not only builds success, but it also builds you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work centers on serving individuals through nursing, advocacy, and my role as a trustee. I specialize in leadership development, nurse advocacy, and personal growth. What I am most proud of is my commitment to continuous personal development, choosing to learn from every obstacle and turning every challenge into a lesson that strengthens me.
What sets me apart is the understanding that I am not alone in my work. I am supported, guided, and strengthened through every step of this journey. I remind myself of this constantly: Knowing this keeps me grounded, focused, and resilient.
Another thing that makes me different is my ability to find positivity even in the middle of negativity. I see hope where others see barriers, and possibility where others see limits. That perspective is what allows me to lead, advocate, and serve with clarity and purpose.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have gained wisdom from God, and that divine guidance has shaped every step of my journey. Alongside that, I’ve been blessed with mentorship that has sharpened my vision and elevated my leadership. I’ve also had the unwavering support of my family, my husband, my children, my mother, my father, my brothers, aunties, uncles and friends. Each of them has played a meaningful role in strengthening my mindset, especially during moments when I needed grounding and encouragement.
Their presence, their words, and their belief in me have been instrumental. I am who I am today because of faith, mentorship, and the circle of support that surrounds me.
