Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Haley.
Hi Miranda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my Instagram as a way to document my travels after I was diagnosed with endometriosis and interstitial cystitis. I found they had robbed me of my ability to enjoy many of the things that previously brought me joy. As I started working with different doctors determined to get my life back through various treatments, medications and surgeries I started to get my life back. I found Instagram as a great way to document the good days and something I could look back at on the bad days as a reminder that these bad days were temporary. When the pandemic hit, it gave me a new definition of bad days.
I felt stuck in a time warp where every day was the same and there was no hope of it changing. It that time Instagram provided me a wonderful opportunity to share my love of fashion. I used to dream of owning my own boutique before I changed my career path to become an art teacher. Instagram allowed me to keep a piece of that dream by sharing my favorite fashion finds for petites. I always struggled to find clothes because I am short and what I often refer to as child sized. I was able to share my passion and connect with other women who shared the same passion. Instagram gave me a way to connect with people during the pandemic.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers and compare yourself others. I have to remind myself that each person has their own journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in budget fashion for petites. I also try to provide hope for people struggling with health issues and mental illness. I consider myself pretty unfiltered like a 30 year old Emma chamberlain without the huge following and Louis Vuitton never sends me outfits (although I’m open to this). I share my experience with dating and singleness. I also share what it has been like being a teacher in person during the pandemic. I also had a rhinoplasty this summer and have shared the roller coaster to getting the procedure and the recovery process. I’m always thankful with someone sends me a message thanking me for sharing my story. If I help just one person I will consider it worth it.
What makes you happy?
Right now, with pandemic, small things make me happy. I find joy in little things like pumpkin spice lattes and chocolate chip cookies. My students always make me happy when they enjoy a lesson and tell me they love coming to art. During the pandemic, I have found that it is hard to be happy when so much death is happening around us this is why I have chosen to find joy in the little things.
