Today we’d like to introduce you to Micah Hunt.
Hi Micah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I spent years working in physical therapy and learned a lot along the way. Over time, though, I started to feel a pull toward something more personal — a way to practice that allowed for deeper relationships and more individualized care.
I didn’t get into physical therapy to rush through appointments. I got into it because I love helping people move better, feel stronger, and get back to the things that matter most to them.
To me, great therapy looks at the whole person. It’s not just about a shoulder, a knee, or a low back. It’s about your goals, your lifestyle, your habits, your stress, and what you actually want your life to look like on the other side of rehab.
I wanted the freedom to slow down, listen well, and build plans that truly fit each individual. I wanted to create a space where care feels personal — not transactional.
Starting my own practice wasn’t the easiest path, but it was the right one. It gave me the opportunity to build a clinic centered around thoughtful care, real relationships, and long-term results.
A place where:
You’re treated like a person, not just a diagnosis.
Your plan is designed specifically for you.
Education and understanding are part of the process.
The goal isn’t just temporary relief, but lasting strength and confidence.
I started this clinic because I believe physical therapy can be better — more personal, more intentional, and more focused on helping people truly thrive.
And that’s what we aim to do every day
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Early on, we wanted to help as many people as possible, so we got credentialed with Medicaid. We believed strongly in serving that population. What we didn’t fully anticipate were the billing limitations and fine print that made much of that care financially unsustainable. We ended up writing off a significant portion of what we provided. It was a tough lesson in the realities of healthcare business.
Another ongoing challenge has simply been getting the word out.
We’re a small, locally owned clinic. We don’t have a marketing team or a corporate budget behind us. Large companies can hire entire departments to drive referrals and visibility.
It’s just us — and the care we provide.
That means growth has been slower and built mostly on word of mouth and trust. It’s meaningful, but it takes time.
And then there are the unexpected surprises — like when the HVAC went out in the middle of winter… and I realized the lease made it my responsibility.
Dang it.
Owning a business means wearing a lot of hats — clinician, marketer, administrator, and sometimes building manager. That’s a lot to handle, especially when trying to juggle responsibilities with one’s family and church.
As you know, we’re big fans of FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers of Jackson Creek. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re an outpatient physical therapy clinic specializing in orthopedic rehab (including pre- and post-surgical care) and balance and vestibular therapy. Our goal is simple: help people move better, feel stronger, and stay active long term.
What helps set us apart is the level of individualized care and the advanced tools we use. We offer high-end modalities that, until recently, were mostly accessible to professional athletes. We also utilize the Winback Back4 TECAR medical device — one of the few in Kansas City, also used by the Chiefs and Royals — to promote tissue healing and accelerate recovery. For balance and dizziness, we perform precise assessments on a premium force plate and use infrared videography to accurately diagnose and treat BPPV. Our recovery station allows patients to relax in leather recliners while using Normatec compression to enhance recovery after sessions.
We also create custom, premium orthotics using 3D technology that captures what happens in your foot as you walk or run. This allows us to design orthotics that support your movement dynamically, improving alignment, comfort, and performance in a way off-the-shelf solutions simply can’t.
We’re not a high-volume clinic. Every plan is built around the individual, and every visit is intentional.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built this clinic on trust and results. No corporate backing. No flashy marketing. Just high-level care delivered personally.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite memories is driving across the country with my family in our station wagon. We were moving from Ohio to California so we crammed everything that could fit into our two cars. We didn’t have mobile phones or tablets. We had to invent our own fun. Playing the Alphabet game or License Plate game was how we spent the time. At the time, I’m sure that my brother and I fought a lot but looking back I cherish that time.
