Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Bollinger.
Hi Madison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up as a lover of fashion and curating different looks, I always knew I had an entreprenuial spirit and wanted to combine the two. After graduating with an Apparel Marketing degree I had plans to move to Chicago when COVID happened. I decided I’d launch an online boutique while I figured out my next step. 5 years later, MadHouse Clothing is still running and offers both online shopping and in person experiences at pop ups and our retail location at Iron District. Inside a small pink shipping container we’ve cycled through 100’s of collections and met so many customers along the way. I fell in love with not just the curation of clothing or the business side but the connection with our customers and seeing how a new outfit can instantly boost their confidence. Currently our online shop is on pause and our retail location is closed until March as I welcome our sweet daughter but stay tuned on Instagram (@shopmadhouse) to keep up with our return! Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not! Navigating and adapting to challenges is half the fun though. The retail space is constantly evolving. Trends are coming and going faster than ever, we battle the rising cost of goods while wanting to maintain providing a high quality product, and maybe the biggest struggle of all – trusting your many decisions as a business owner. Battling self doubt can be a big obstacle when running a business. My advice would be to tune out the outside noise or others opinions and trust your gut. And making mistakes is how you learn and grow!

MadHouse Clothing is a womens retail boutique specializing in weekly curated collections. We are feminine and fun and hope you feel your best self in our clothing.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Community is everything! This business is what it is because of my community. Whether that’s my customers, my husband/family that supports me and helps so much behind the scenes, or other boutique owners that share knowledge and support. Our online and Kansas City community make this business possible!
