Meet Lisa Forbes of White Aspen Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Forbes.

Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Years ago, when I was planning my own wedding, I had the misfortune of working with a venue manager who had no idea what he was doing. I knew that I could do a better job than he did and thus started my journey of venue management and event planning. I worked at various venues in the Overland Park area, but as my family grew, so did my desire to have more flexibility. I began working for Simple Elegance and knew almost immediately that my true calling is in wedding planning. After many wonderful years with Simple Elegance, I once again had the desire for more flexibility, especially during the devastating blow to the wedding industry that was Covid-19. After a trip to Colorado and several long conversations with my closest friends and family, I decided to create my own brand and company and that’s how White Aspen Weddings got started. And while I have a name for myself in the KC wedding community, White Aspen is still in its infant stages although it continues to grow daily. The other part of my journey has been to tutor others how to be wedding and event planners through an online school called QC Career School. I started this to supplement my income but have realized that coaching new and aspiring wedding planners is also a passion of mine and something I want to grow in the future. As we move into 2022, I plan to offer subscription based online coaching in video format to planners who want to learn the nitty gritty of wedding planning as The Wedding Planning Coach.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a long journey and, to be honest, fear has always been (and still is!) at the heart of it. Fear that I don’t have what it takes fear that I don’t know what I’m doing, fear of failure and even fear of success. For so many years, I’ve been afraid to take the necessary actions to do what my heart has been telling me to do. I finally had to step into that fear through prayer and lean into what I felt God was calling me to do. I had to realize that, through my imperfections, God can use me to spread joy in others. Whether it is through wedding planning, coaching, or just telling the countless stories I have, I have the ability and the responsibility to share the gifts He has given to me. I’m still afraid, but I know that where God leads me, there is a brilliant future.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a luxury wedding planner specializing in full-service wedding planning. I believe that building relationships with my clients allows me to be a better planner so that I can help create, design and implement their vision. My clients understand the value of not only having a wedding planner but of having a wedding planner that has a vast array of knowledge and experience in the industry.

In addition, I am also a wedding planning coach who strives to teach others the ins and outs of wedding planning in a personal way.
