Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Blanchard

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After 24 years as a teacher, I wanted to find a way to supplement our income as our oldest son started college. My brother, who works in finance, introduced me to the career of an independent health insurance agent, and I quickly saw the opportunity to help others find affordable, reliable coverage. In September 2023, I set a goal to be licensed and ready for Open Enrollment by November. I studied hard, passed my exam, and launched my own insurance agency, HealthLink KC LLC.

Helping others has always been my passion, whether in education or as an independent health insurance agent. While my family has been fortunate with good insurance, I was surprised by how many people struggle to find affordable coverage. Hearing their stories and providing real solutions has been incredibly rewarding.

At HealthLink KC LLC, I aim to make insurance simple and accessible, taking the time to understand each person’s unique needs and offer the best solutions. Being an independent agent allows me to be appointed with multiple insurance carriers, so I am able to find the best options without being locked in with one company. With my husband’s support, this business allows me to educate, support, and make a meaningful difference in my community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own insurance agency has come with its challenges. Shifting from a long career in education to the world of insurance meant learning complex regulations and building a business from the ground up—while continuing full-time teaching and caring for our three sons. Balancing it all has been demanding, but I knew that creating something meaningful required hard work.

Growing the business on a limited budget has been one of the biggest hurdles. Without the resources for large-scale marketing, I’ve focused on organic growth through referrals, which has become the heart of HealthLink KC LLC. I take pride in building trust with clients, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that trust lead to recommendations.

Another challenge has been seeing how many people struggle with the high cost of health insurance or go without coverage because they don’t know affordable options are out there. That frustration motivates me every day—to help individuals and families find quality, affordable coverage and give them peace of mind.

Though the journey hasn’t been easy, every challenge has reinforced why I do this. I’ve built HealthLink KC LLC on integrity and a commitment to putting people first. As the business grows, I remain focused on educating and guiding clients to help them feel confident in their coverage and future.

We’ve been impressed with HealthLink KC LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HealthLink KC LLC is all about providing personalized support for individuals, families, and small businesses when it comes to health and financial protection. I specialize in guiding people through ACA Marketplace plans, Medicare, dental/vision/hearing coverage, life insurance, long-term care, and small business health options. I also offer accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans to give people peace of mind during unexpected medical events.

In addition to health insurance, I’ve partnered with my brother, Kip Hertzenberg at Hertzenberg Financial LLC, to help clients plan for their financial future, including retirement strategies. His expertise in financial planning really adds value to the services I offer at HealthLink KC.

What really sets me apart is the personal approach I take with each client. I take the time to understand each person’s unique needs and make sure they feel comfortable with their options. It’s not about pushing a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s about simplifying things, educating my clients, and empowering them to make choices they feel good about.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients. My business has grown largely through referrals, and that means a lot to me. It’s a reminder that I’m helping people in a way that makes a difference, and it motivates me to continue working with integrity and care.

Any big plans?
As HealthLink KC grows, my focus remains on expanding my reach and helping more individuals, families, and businesses find the right insurance and financial solutions. I aim to strengthen my community presence and ensure people have a trusted, local resource for health insurance and retirement planning.

I’m excited to deepen my partnership with my brother Kip, offering more comprehensive financial planning alongside insurance solutions. Helping people secure quality coverage and prepare for their future is my passion, and I look forward to making an even greater impact.

Building my business through referrals and strong client relationships remains a top priority. Trust and personalized service are at the heart of HealthLink KC LLC, and I strive to maintain that as I grow. I’m constantly learning and evolving to better serve my clients. No matter how much my business expands, my commitment to putting clients first will always stay the same.

Most importantly, my greatest motivation is building a legacy for my children. I want them to see that hard work and dedication lead to great rewards. As a wife, mother, and business owner, I strive to be a positive female role model, showing them that perseverance and integrity can create something meaningful. My dream is for my sons to one day be part of the business, continuing the work I’ve started and making a lasting impact in our community.
