Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Pizzato
Hi Linda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My family and I moved to Kansas City in 1997, for a promotion and new job my husband accepted. Our four kids were ages 11, 9, 4,3 years old at the time. Originally my husband and I are from Chicago, along with our oldest daughter, Nicole. The three boys, Mark, Victor, and Michael were born in Fremont, Ohio when we were stationed there for Marks previous job.
The company relocated us to Parkville and provided a paid one bedroom apartment until a 3 bedroom apartment became available for us.
We quickly learned the area and fell in love with Kansas City! I found it to be the best kept secret of the Midwest!
We decided to build a home near Liberty, MO, because we heard they had excellent schools. So in January of 1998, we moved into our new home, and adjusted to life with new schools, neighbors, and area.
I don’t think we were here two years, when my husband found out his company had been bought out by another company, and his position was eliminated. That’s when we began Linda’s Cleaning Service! Honestly it was out of need, and less about wanting a business at that time. construction of new residential areas, was booming here. We too were in a newer subdivision still being built. A builder’s Superintendent was working at the house next door, and saw me out with my kids. I befriended him and he asked me if I was interested in cleaning their newly constructed homes. I thought sure, if its flexible I can do that!
It was much more difficult than I had thought, but with no steady income and four kids to support, I figured it out, and we off to cleaning houses. My husband helped as much as possible and we hired some friends as well to assist us. We mushroomed pretty quickly and that was our niche for the first ten years of business. My husband went back to work and was hired on in management for Ford Motor Company.
This business has always accommodated with the stages my kids were in and helping to provide the income we needed for it.
Fast forward to 2018, my husband was forced into early retirement, and that’s when I decided to scale up again.
Now he helps with the operation side, and I manage a small team that we care as much about as our customers.
While we are still a small family owned business, giving back to the Community has become a priority as well as helping our team grow and improve their lifestyles.
Last year one of my employees nominated me to Fox4 Pay it Forward segment, and won. We were featured on tv, and I was so surprised to receive a $400 gift card for winning.
I remain a women owned business, and we as a team give back to our community, through Cleaning For a Reason. It is a not for profit organization that gives two free monthly, donated cleanings to a family member dealing with caner while undergoing chemotherapy treatments. To date we have help 24 patients and donated $5000 in cleanings. We have made an impact on families, and were able to provide some relief in their time of need. One of the saddest stories was that of a father of 5 children who had terminal Brain Cancer, and the 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with it as well. We also helped another young mom with brain cancer and two young children. We wish we could do more, but are glad we can help provide some relief for them with housecleaning.
We also help sponsor some local programs, one of them being transitional housing for homeless people, and most recently Paws for Pets!
We love serving our customers, and community, and believe in People First, lift others as we rise. I always wanted this buisness to be one with a soul that cares for everyone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many challenges as there are with any business. We went through 911, then the great recession in 2010. Most recently Covid pandemic, as we all know was a big challenge for everyone!
As you know, we’re big fans of Linda’s Cleaning Service, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a residential and office cleaning service business. We have been around since 1998, however, I didn’t get my LLC until 2018!
We are known for caring for our customers and employees, as well as our attention to detail when hired for cleaning services.
We are a Better BBB Accredited business, and have one several local awards, including Gold in Kansas City Favorites, and Silver in best of the Northland. Most recently nominated for the Pitch’s best of K,C.
I’m very proud of my team and grateful for them, as well as my family who has always supported me, no matter what.
