Meet Laci Jo Rains of She’s Native

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laci Jo Rains.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
She’s Native was born from a simple idea: that incredibly talented women owned businesses deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated. What started as a subscription box has grown into a community that connects local businesses with customers through curated gift boxes, networking events, and meaningful relationships.

As a small business owner myself, I know how challenging it can be to build something from the ground up. I wanted to create more than just a way to sell products. I wanted to build a platform where women could gain exposure, find encouragement, collaborate with one another, and grow together.

Since launching in 2019, She’s Native has featured dozens of women owned businesses across Missouri and has helped introduce thousands of customers to brands they may have never discovered otherwise. Seeing customers light up as they open each box and hearing from business owners about new opportunities that came from being part of the community is what keeps me going.

At its heart, She’s Native isn’t just about a subscription box. It’s about creating a community where women genuinely support women and proving that when we lift each other up, everyone rises.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest struggles has been overcoming imposter syndrome. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve questioned whether I was capable enough, experienced enough, or doing enough. It’s easy to compare your journey to everyone else’s, but I’ve learned that confidence isn’t something you wait for. It comes from continuing to show up, taking the next step, and trusting the process even when you don’t have all the answers.

Around the same time I was building She’s Native, our family was navigating one of the hardest chapters of our lives after my daughter was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Suddenly, balancing entrepreneurship and motherhood took on a whole new meaning. It reminded me that while business is important, people always come first. It also taught me to give myself grace, ask for help when I needed it, and appreciate the power of a strong community.

Looking back, those experiences shaped me into a stronger leader and reinforced the heart behind She’s Native. My goal has never been to simply build a successful business. It’s to create a community where women feel seen, supported, and encouraged because you never know what someone else may be carrying behind the scenes.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
She’s Native is more than a subscription box. It’s a platform dedicated to helping women owned businesses gain visibility, build meaningful connections, and grow. Through our seasonal subscription boxes, networking events, and business community, we introduce our customers to incredible local brands they may have never discovered otherwise.

What sets us apart is that every decision is made with the small business owner in mind. We don’t just feature products. We tell stories, create opportunities, and foster relationships that continue long after a box is delivered. Our goal is to create a ripple effect where supporting one woman owned business leads to the discovery of many more.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Over the years, I’ve watched business owners collaborate, become friends, refer customers to one another, and celebrate each other’s successes. That sense of connection has become the heartbeat of She’s Native.

I want readers to know that when they support She’s Native, they’re doing so much more than purchasing a gift box. They’re investing in the dreams of women who have poured their hearts into building their businesses. Every purchase helps strengthen local entrepreneurship and reminds these women that someone believes in what they’re creating.
