Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris CaMeRon.
Hi Kris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My birth name is Kristopher Cameron Moore, but I go by either Kris CaMeRon or KC. I’m 24 years old, I’ll be 25 this winter. I’m originally from Chicago, but I grew up in southern IL after my mom decided to go back to school in 2006. Growing up on a college campus made me eager to experience it for myself. I tried school in Kansas, but it wasn’t the best environment for me. I ended up taking off the second semester of my sophomore year and returned home to Edwardsville IL.
During that brief period at home, my best friend Tommy, known as the artist +ommywithaplus, showed me the joy of expressing myself through music. It started as something I did for fun but little did I know that was the spark of what would change my life forever.
After my time home, I found myself leaving again moving to New Mexico on a track scholarship. 14hrs away from home stood a sign that said “Welcome to New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment”, and it felt like a gateway to a whole new world. Living there was one of the greatest experiences and a key component to the development of who I am today. There I found myself.
In my 3rd year there, I found myself trying to live a double life. On one end I was aspiring to be an Olympian, and on the other side, I had dreams of receiving Grammy’s, 3 to start to be exact.
As time went on, things transpired that pulled me away from track, one of those being COVID.
While the world shut down, I realized I wasn’t doing what I wanted. Since then I’ve given my life to music and now I’m the happiest I’ve ever been!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Hahaha, definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I can say something that I struggled with, and still do to an extent, is loss. We attach ourselves to love, money, people, ideas, and the loss of some of those things really impacted my journey. Death was a huge component. My first year in New Mexico, I lost an uncle and it was the first time a death really shook me up. The following year around the same time I not only lost another uncle, but the week after I lost my grandfather. Those two really got to me.
The way I’ve lived my life I don’t get to see my family often, so things like death created feeling of regret. My last year in New Mexico I lost a friend to a shooting at a party and that was my wake up call that life is too short to go living with regret. I find myself expressing a lot of it in my music. It becomes therapeutic and helps me get the closure I need. As a result, I’ve been able to turn many difficult situations in my life into beautiful pieces of art.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist/songwriter. I have no set genre. My range varies from rap and Hip-Hop based, to Rnb with a slight island spin, I also play with alternative and indie rock sounds, but if you wanna give it a style you could say I make music of affirmation. I create ViBeS. I feel what I feel and express. I want the listener to experience the emotions in the music, no matter what they may be, and transmute them into feelings of empowerment.
I understand that in order to receive what you desire in this life, you have to create the feeling of already possessing them. No one can give them to you, only assist in the maintenance if you so allow.
I think what I’m proud of the most is the fact that I’m able to express so much of myself in music. I feel a lot of people in my line of work get to caught up in the mainstream lights. They think of what people wanna hear, so I feel their sound get repetitive, as to if they’d talk about what people need to hear the music could reach a broader audience. I understand a lot of people need healing and music is a gateway for it. Music helped me discover my purpose. It led me to realize I am a beckon of Peace, Love, and Light.
I’ve released 2 projects on all major platforms. My first being ‘New Rain’, my sophomore ‘BadMan ViBeS’, and I’m finishing up one I plan to be dropping this fall ‘4 SZNs’.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t like to associate things as good or bad luck. No matter the circumstances of a situation it is necessary to the journey. I practice meditation and speak on the importance of awareness of self. Understanding the contribution of one’s self to the outside world you realize you create the “luck” you experience based on the decision we make. Everything is a choice. Your discernment of the information is what will determine your “luck”. Life is beautiful, if I’m lucky to have or do anything it’s to wake up and experience it for all its wonders. Life’s about the expansion and transfer of information. I only desire to add my contribution.
