Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerri McEachron.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been a bookkeeper for over a decade, and I’ve always loved helping people bring order and clarity to their finances. When I started MK Bookkeeping, my goal was to keep doing the work I love while still being there for my kids—Mason and Kennedy. They’re the reason I do everything, and they’re the inspiration behind the name MK.
What started with just a handful of local clients has grown into a practice serving a wide variety of businesses, from contractors and creatives to HOAs, law firms, and engineering firms. Each one comes with its own challenges, and I’ve found so much joy in creating systems that really work—whether it’s cleaning up years of records, setting up QuickBooks, or streamlining payroll and tax processes.
Today, MK Bookkeeping has become a trusted partner to entrepreneurs in Kansas City and beyond. For me, it’s about more than bookkeeping—it’s about giving business owners peace of mind so they can focus on what they do best, while I get to do what I love most, both at work and at home with my family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I started out wearing every hat—bookkeeping for clients, managing my own business finances, marketing, and still making time for my family. One of the biggest struggles was learning how to balance it all without burning out. There were seasons where I felt stretched thin, but each challenge taught me how to build better systems and set healthier boundaries.
Another struggle was growth. As more clients came on board, especially engineering firms and other businesses with complex needs, I had to push myself to constantly learn and adapt. It wasn’t always easy, but it’s also what made me stronger and more confident in the services I provide today.
Looking back, those struggles shaped MK Bookkeeping into what it is now. They taught me resilience, the importance of relationships, and that sometimes the hardest seasons are the ones that push you to grow the most.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MK Bookkeeping Services?
MK Bookkeeping Services is all about bringing clarity, structure, and peace of mind to small business owners. I specialize in bookkeeping, payroll, and QuickBooks consulting, but more than that, I partner with my clients to make sure their financial processes actually support their business goals. Many of my clients are in fields like engineering, construction, law, creative services, and HOAs—industries where accuracy, compliance, and trust are absolutely essential.
What sets me apart is the personal connection I build with each client. I don’t just enter numbers into QuickBooks—I take the time to understand how the business works, what challenges they’re facing, and what systems will make their lives easier. I want my clients to feel confident that their books are accurate and up to date, their payroll is handled, and their taxes won’t be a surprise.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that MK isn’t just a bookkeeping service—it’s a reflection of my values. The name comes from my kids, Mason and Kennedy, and it reminds me every day that family and purpose are at the heart of everything I do. I want readers to know that my services are designed to give them freedom: freedom from the stress of disorganized finances, freedom to focus on growing their business, and freedom to spend more time on what matters most.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Kansas City is the sense of community. There’s such a strong spirit of collaboration here—people genuinely want to see each other succeed. As a small business owner, I’ve felt that support through networking groups, referrals, and just the way people show up for one another. It feels like a big city with small-town heart, and that combination is really special.
What I like least would probably be the unpredictability of the weather—it can make planning family time or lake trips a little tricky! But honestly, even that’s part of the charm of living here. At the end of the day, Kansas City feels like home, and I’m grateful to be building both my business and my family’s life here.
