Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Garcia.
Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Jordan Garcia, and I am proud to say that I am a Kansan through and through. I was born and raised in Topeka, and after graduating with a Journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 2006, I began my advertising career in Chicago. I knew I wanted to join the advertising industry and was excited to dive in and make my mark.
After a few years in Chicago, I felt a pull to return to my roots in Kansas. I was excited to be back in my home state and part of an agency making a difference in the community. 2010 I joined JNA Advertising as their media director after a brief stint at Barkley.
Over the years, I have worked with many amazing clients, including Proctor & Gamble, Miller Brewing, Bank of America, and Garmin. However, the work I am most proud of is the local campaigns that truly impact the people in my community. Through my work with the Kansas Lottery, Kansas Department for Children and Families, Kansas Department of Labor, Animal Health Corridor, BioKansas, and the Kansas Department of Transportation, I know that I am making a difference in the lives of my family, friends, and neighbors. I have been with JNA Advertising for over a decade and am honored to say that I am currently the agency’s president. I lead a team of over 20 talented individuals who share my passion for making a difference in the community through advertising. Together, we work hard to create campaigns that truly make an impact.
Outside of work, I am lucky to have a wonderful family. I have a smart, caring, and beautiful wife named Megan, and together we have a combined family of four kids and two dogs. They are my motivation and support system, and I am grateful for them daily.
Looking back on my career, I am proud of what I have accomplished and grateful for my opportunities. I know that I am where I am today because of hard work, determination, and a commitment to making a difference in the world around me.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
Advertising, marketing & public relations work is always a challenging process. I didn’t know what I wanted to do at the start of my career. I stumbled along the way, finding my way initially with media planning & buying on national brands and campaigns. I quickly realized I loved advertising and working through the strategic issues that the different clients and campaigns had. There are obstacles and challenges for specific clients, and I would like to focus on working as a marketing and advertising contractor for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) safety campaigns, such as impaired driving, occupant protection, distracted driving, and speeding. These can be difficult for several reasons.
- First, these topics can be emotionally charged and sensitive, involving the potential loss of life or serious injury. As a result, it’s important to handle these topics with care and sensitivity while still getting the message across effectively.
- Second, changing people’s behavior is always challenging, especially when it comes to habits that have been ingrained over many years. For example, getting people to put down their phones while driving or to wear their seatbelts can be challenging, even when the benefits of doing so are clear.
- Third, there is often a lot of competition for people’s attention, especially in the digital age. With so much information and entertainment at our fingertips, breaking through the noise and capturing people’s attention with a safety campaign can be complex.
- Fourth, budget constraints can limit the scope and reach of a safety campaign, making it difficult to get the message out to as many people as possible. This is incredibly challenging when trying to reach a diverse and widespread audience across the state.
Despite these challenges, working on KDOT safety campaigns can be extremely rewarding. Effective campaigns can make a real difference in reducing accidents and saving lives, a powerful motivator for those working in marketing and advertising for KDOT.

Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
In my career, I am happy watching the team grow and achieve great work and campaigns. However, my time at home or out in the wild with my family makes me the most comfortable. I love spending time with my kids and wife tackling new trails, watching them find joy in their activities, and hopefully creating healthy, happy humans who can passionately attack the world. Outside work and home, I sit on multiple advisory boards, including the University of Kansas Alumni Board for Kansas City and the UMKC Regnier Advisory Board. I recently was a founding member of the Brand Lab of Kansas City board.
