Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry McNeal.
Hi Jerry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by inner-city youth, and the belief that their potential needed to be nurtured beyond just academics or sports. I noticed that there was a lack of development opportunities and support systems in place for these young people, which led me to think bigger than just football. Football, or sports in general, can serve as a great platform, but I wanted to create something that went deeper – something that focused on building life skills, leadership, and community engagement.
I started by offering training that integrated mentorship, education, and sports, aiming to give these kids not just a chance to excel on the field, but the tools to excel in life. Over time, that vision expanded. The goal was always to create opportunities that would help them develop the skills, mindset, and work ethic needed to succeed, whether that led them into sports, careers, or further education.
The journey continues, but it’s always been about lifting up young people and ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to succeed on and off the field. Bigger Than Football
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Bigger Than Football was established while my grandmother was in transition. The path has been difficult, but I have strived to continue her tradition of supporting young people. Additionally, finding a suitable field for practice has been a challenge, but I have turned this obstacle into an opportunity for perseverance.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Bigger Than Football, our mission is to empower young student-athletes (ages 6-21) to reach their highest potential both on and off the field. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive skills and performance training that fosters growth, discipline, and excellence.
Through our commitment to personal development, academic success, and athletic achievement, we aim to shape well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the challenges of life and the opportunities of the future.
We provide affordable training to help your students-athlete improve on and off the field.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5-10 years, Bigger Than Football will become a household name. I aim to continue hosting football camps in inner-city areas. Additionally, I aspire to own an indoor football gym. Furthermore, I would like to collaborate with NFL players.
