Meet Jennifer Allwood of Creators Inner Circle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Allwood. 

Hi Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have a degree in computer technology but always HATED having a traditional 9-5 job. I have always been fascinated with houses and decorating and even bought my first home at the age of 21. When faux finishing and decorative painting became popular in Kansas City in the late ’90s, I became super fascinated with painting my own home and then playing around painting for others. I started a little side hustle called “The Magic Brush” making clients’ walls look like marble or stone and then when I was laid off from my corporate job in 2000, I decided to go all-in with my painting company.

I began working with some of the best builders and designers in Kansas City and hired several women to paint with and for me. Then when my husband and I started our family, I stayed home to raise our 3 biological kiddos and let other women paint out in the field for me, and I did the marketing and worked with builders and clients from home.

When Facebook began to gain traction for businesses about 12 years ago, I found I had a knack for marketing online. I was able to build an audience and turn that local audience into clients. But with an audience of now 360,000 followers, only a portion were local to KC, so I wanted to figure out a way to both monetize and help the others with their home decorating and painting.

So, I started to sell digital DIY painting videos on the internet. That went to a 6 figure year biz in 14 months. And then I started to offer webinars online and 5 years ago began a monthly coaching group to show other women how to increase their social media followers in order to make money online.

I currently have over 2000 women in a paid monthly coaching group called The Creators Inner Circle. I teach a twice-yearly program called  The Better Way Program which teaches 8 ways of making money online for women. And I am the author of the #1 bestselling book, Fear is Not the Boss of You. I have a podcast called the Jennifer Allwood Show with 3.5 million downloads and am in the process of launching a product line called Jennifer Allwood Home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh gosh no. People in the painting industry were mad that I was teaching homeowners the secrets of the trade. People were upset that I transitioned out of the painting company (back in 2017) to just being online. People on the internet are not always kind. Building a team that is not local to support a multi 7 figure a year online company/s growth was challenging. Carving time out of my schedule to write the book was hard (we had just adopted a little girl making our kiddo count 4). My husband left corporate America 3.5 years ago to work full-time with me as my CFO. There were challenges in being a team in marriage and now a team at work that had to be figured out. Having a mom with over a half-million followers has also presented some interesting things for my children.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Creators’ Inner Circle is my monthly coaching group with 2000 women at $47 a month. I have had the group for 5 years and over 8000 women have come through this group including a handful that have become million dollar per year earners with their increased knowledge about social media.

Once someone has a basic understanding of how to leverage Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest in particular for their biz, we teach them to start an email list and start planning on how they can take their knowledge and skill and make money in an easier way like a course, a paid group, by blogging or becoming an influencer. My Better Way program goes deeply into setting up 8 different ways to make money online.

And then I have a 6-month long mastermind for entrepreneurs who want more one-on-one strategy from my team and I on increasing their online business. I hold one in-person event a year for this group.

I’m different from most business coaches in that I don’t just teach on strategy. As someone whose Christian faith is of utmost importance in every area of my life…. I coach from that perspective. I believe a healthy, prospering, lucrative business requires knowledge and work on mind, body, and soul. I can’t just teach strategy without also addressing all the other things affecting a woman’s business growth…. limiting beliefs, old hurts, unforgiveness, disbelief, etc.

Most business coaches shy away from including any talk about faith in their coaching and I refuse to coach without it!

What matters most to you? Why?
My Christian faith. My husband of almost 24 years. Our 4 kiddos.

And how I get to serve women daily in my coaching groups, thru my book, my podcast or on social media.
