Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Montgomery.
Hi Eric, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ten years ago, my life looked very different. I was searching for clarity, purpose, and a sense of direction—and let’s just say I wasn’t exactly winning at adulting. Through a process of deep personal growth (and a lot of humility), I rebuilt my foundation—starting with family, then career.
I began as a licensed electrician, but somewhere along the way I tripped the breaker and switched to low voltage. That shift opened up a whole new world of AV integration, where I discovered a passion for blending technology with design. Somewhere between rewiring dimmers and decoding HDMI quirks, I realized I wasn’t just solving problems—I was designing experiences.
Over time, I built a reputation for precision, creativity, and client-centered service. One of my favorite parts of the job is connecting with clients—not just to install gear, but to understand how they live, what they value, and how technology can support that. I love translating their needs into elegant solutions and watching their space come alive.
Today, I run a business that reflects everything I care about—integrity, beauty, and the thrill of solving complex challenges in a way that feels personal, purposeful, and occasionally involves crawling through attics.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Not exactly. My first (and only) AV job before launching Streamline was what I lovingly refer to as a ‘trial by fire.’ At the time, I didn’t realize I was doing the job of four people—but once I started connecting with others in the AV world, it became clear: I was the installer, the programmer, the project manager, and the logistics guy ordering parts and managing inventory. I thought that was normal. It wasn’t.
That experience taught me a lot—about systems, burnout, and the importance of building a business that’s sustainable and sane.
Starting Streamline while working full-time and raising two young kids? Also not smooth. It’s been challenging, humbling, and occasionally chaotic. But it’s also been deeply rewarding. I’ve learned to pace myself, ask for help, and build processes that support both my clients and my family.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been meaningful—and I wouldn’t trade it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My company, Streamline A/V , specializes in high-end audio video integration for residential and light commercial spaces. We design and install systems that are intuitive, elegant, and tailored to how our clients actually live and work.
If you’re wondering what AV integration actually means—it’s about making technology feel invisible and effortless. With a well-designed system, clients can control their music, TVs, lighting, climate, security, and even motorized shades—all from a single app, remote, or wall-mounted touchscreen.
What sets us apart? It’s the way we collaborate with builders, designers, and homeowners to ensure every system is thoughtfully integrated from the ground up. I work closely with project teams to preserve the aesthetic vision while delivering robust performance behind the scenes. Whether it’s a whole-home audio system, a custom theater, or a smart lighting setup, I make sure it works beautifully and looks even better.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the name ‘Streamline.’ It reflects everything I aim for—clean design, smooth operation, and a process that makes clients feel taken care of from start to finish.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know that Streamline isn’t just about tech—it’s about trust, creativity, and making spaces feel more like home.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think the quality that’s made the biggest difference in my success is patience—paired with persistence. A lot of my clients are older or just not super comfortable with technology, and I’ve learned that slowing down, listening carefully, and sticking with them until they feel confident makes all the difference.
Just last week, a client thanked me for staying with her through a tricky issue and making sure she truly understood how to use her system. That kind of moment means a lot to me. I don’t just want things to work—I want people to feel empowered and supported.
