Hi Emylee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my business in 2011 as a broke photographer charging $75 a session, thinking passion alone would pay the bills. It didn’t. So I taught myself sales and marketing, landed my first $2,500 client, and went on to co-found a multi-million-dollar company that served over 30,000 small business owners worldwide.
But that version of success came with too much noise: a team of 27+, endless launches, and very little peace. So I walked away and rebuilt everything from scratch — this time with 90% less overhead and 100% more intention.
Now, through Creative’s Catalyst, I help women-led service businesses scale sustainably by turning their messy data into strategic decisions and productizing what they already do best. No chasing trends. No bloated teams. Just clean, aligned growth that honors your capacity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road — more like a winding one with detours I didn’t see coming. I’ve navigated chronic illnesses like endometriosis and PMDD that forced me to constantly recalibrate how I work and show up.
Add to that a business breakup that felt more like a divorce — emotionally, legally, and financially. It dismantled my sense of stability and identity. For a while, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to rebuild. But those experiences taught me how to build a business that works with my energy, not against it — one rooted in clarity, boundaries, and sustainability.
That’s now baked into everything I teach: honoring your capacity is a growth strategy.

People are always surprised to learn that I walked away from a multi-million-dollar company — not because it failed, but because it stopped feeling aligned. Success isn’t just about the revenue number for me; it’s about how it feels behind the scenes. I’d rather build something small and mighty than big and miserable.
