Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Zach Jaskinia.
Hi Dr. Jaskinia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
One day I just thought to myself: “What are you doing with your life?”
Growing up as a kid in Kansas City, I had one dream, to be a professional soccer player. I played every sport imaginable. That was how my mom got me to sleep at night as a kid. Very rambunctious, ornery, and full of energy, I hadn’t yet learned how to cultivate that energy into the good outside of the athletic arena. After playing collegiate soccer in Iowa and graduating with degrees in Business and Marketing, I was unsure where life would take me.
After having dealt with family trauma during college and the subsequent years of darkness from unresolved pain points and an uninspiring position as a cubicle robot, I was down and out with no clear avenue of light to chase. Yet there’s a saying in Chiropractic: “you don’t find Chiropractic, it finds you”, which simply encapsulates my journey into this field.
I never even thought of myself as one day becoming a Doctor, and no one in my family had attempted graduate school, yet here I was. About to test my will and commitment to bettering my life and the lives of others in the process. Upon stepping through the doors of Cleveland Chiropractic, it was evident that I was in for a wild ride. As a business student, I found myself in classes with Human Biology and Sports Physiology majors. To say there was a learning curve ahead would be putting it lightly. I FAILED. HARD.
After making it through the first two academic-laden years, I settled into the practical application and clinical work, where the fruits of my labor began to surface. I found a group of fellow athletes that trained Chiropractic like a sport, and soaked it up like a sponge; soon helping to start a club chapter on campus. Our fire was burning hotter with each passing day.
I graduated in August 2019 and opened my first office in March 2020. Not great timing as a business owner, yet it allowed me to gain valuable insight into healthcare as a whole, and where I stood in relation to it. I have been able to test and fortify my belief systems time and time again, forging a clear path into the future.
I have built my life and office environment around the theme “Building conscious empowerment through the freedom of choice”. In the context of personal health, this means that given adequate education and integration, we are all capable of healing and living healthy life. Conscious awareness of an individual’s health potential will inspire and empower them to make healthier life choices; thus changing the world for the better.
I have two beautiful children (Breck, 4, and Tilly, 2) and a loving wife Meghan, who is an aspiring health coach devoted to assisting women in their own health journey. Check her out on IG @healthyandhappywithease.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Doesn’t the saying go: “The challenges make the man”
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the challenges I have faced along the way. From almost falling out of Chiropractic school, to experiencing trauma within my family. Learning from them is what provides me with the perspective I need to persist when the going gets tough.
The lives we lead are a reflection of our ability to transcend the tough times and return to the center.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Chiropractic is a polarizing healing modality. Based on your experience with it, you either love it… or not so much.
Much of that comes down to the practitioner you see, and their ability to articulate what it is a Chiropractor does. Chiropractic is built upon the “Above-Down, Inside Out” philosophy. This means, your body heals itself from above, down, and inside-out.
Above= Universal Intelligence/God
Down= Brain & Nervous system
Inside-Out= without the use of external means (medications, etc.)
It all starts with the health of the spine. If a person has been relatively hard on their body and it doesn’t move as well as God intended, it will begin to bring about symptoms to tell us something isn’t right (back pain, headaches, anxiety, poor walking mechanics, etc.). If we ignore those messages, they get stronger. And stronger. Most people that begin to receive treatment in a Chiropractor’s office have ignored these messages for an extended period of time and are now in chronic pain.
By restoring movement and health to the spine and extremities, their brain/body connection is restored, and the body will begin the healing process. There are no quick fixes to long-term sustainable health, yet over time, people improve and heal to the point where they don’t need me to keep them out of pain.
It brings me immense joy to see the smile from a person who not only feels better but also understands that they are healing better, by making better lifestyle choices to maximize their life potential.
I am known for being thorough and providing individualistic care for the person on the table. There is no ‘one adjustment fits all’ approach to healing.
After attending over 20 adjusting seminars in Chiropractic school and countless hours improving my craft, I am confident in my ability to help facilitate positive change in the lives of those who trust me with their care.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
As I progress in my career, my goal is to begin presenting to individuals about the Chiropractic profession, as well as their own healing journey, through the empowerment of my own story.
That would require collaboration with businesses interested in improving the lives of their employees through personal empowerment, as well as holding health talks for interested parties.
I am also an aspiring athletic performance coach, set to begin individual sessions (remotely and in-person) during the first quarter of 2022. It’s an exciting field of discovery, as we still seek to become the best versions of ourselves. This is a way to spread one of my passions to the world.
