Hi Dr. Olayemi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sunkissed Health & Wellness is a parent company for two unique branches, Naturola & Sunkissed Chiropractic. It was born from a deeply personal journey of healing, purpose, and faith—a journey I first had to walk through in darkness and pain before I could help guide others toward the light.
As a young Black woman, I experienced firsthand how easy it is to become disconnected from yourself under the weight of trauma, expectations, and the pressures of society. My journey toward healing began with learning to love myself, embracing my natural identity, and growing closer to God. That transformation inspired me to create Naturola, a natural hair care brand dedicated to helping others reconnect with their natural beauty and confidence.
Over time, I realised true healing extends far beyond appearance. It includes the body, mind, and spirit. That calling led me to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, where I discovered the incredible ability of the nervous system to influence every aspect of health and well-being.
In 2025, I founded Sunkissed Chiropractic with a vision of creating more than just a chiropractic clinic. I wanted to build a place where people feel seen, heard, and cared for—a space that feels like home. Today, Sunkissed provides patient-centred chiropractic care, wellness services, and animal chiropractic, while remaining deeply committed to serving the community through education, outreach, and accessible wellness events.
Our mission has always been simple: to help people reconnect with the healthiest version of themselves. Whether through healing, education, or community, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a life that is vibrant, empowered, and truly well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Like many entrepreneurs, the journey has come with its share of challenges. Building a business while also growing as a person has required resilience, faith, and a willingness to keep going even when the path wasn’t clear.
Personally, I had to confront trauma, self-doubt, and seasons of darkness that forced me to heal before I could genuinely help facilitate others’ healing process. Professionally, starting a healthcare practice from the ground up meant earning trust, navigating the realities of entrepreneurship, and learning that passion alone isn’t enough—you also need discipline, patience, and perseverance.
There have been moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path, but every obstacle strengthened my purpose. Those experiences shaped the heart of Sunkissed Health & Wellness. They taught me that healing isn’t linear, and neither is building a business. Today, I’m grateful for every challenge because they’ve allowed me to serve my community with greater compassion, authenticity, and understanding.

Sunkissed Health & Wellness is more than a chiropractic practice—it’s an ecosystem of healing. It serves as the umbrella for three brands: **Sunkissed Chiropractic, Animal Chiropractic, and Naturola**. Although each serves a different purpose, they all share one mission: helping creation reconnect with the healthiest version of themselves, naturally.
When most people hear the word *chiropractic*, they think about cracking backs and relieving pain. While that can certainly be part of it, chiropractic is truly about restoring communication between the brain, spinal cord, and the rest of the body. At Sunkissed Chiropractic, our focus is on supporting the nervous system so the body can function the way it was designed to. We believe healing begins when the body is given the opportunity to do what it was created to do.
What makes Sunkissed different isn’t just the care we provide—it’s the perspective behind it.
Before I ever became Dr. Olayemi Sowemimo, I was a woman who had to navigate trauma, uncertainty, and seasons of profound darkness. Those experiences taught me compassion in a way no textbook ever could. Today, I meet patients where they are, whether they’re experiencing physical discomfort, emotional stress, or simply searching for a place where they feel seen and heard.
My education extended far beyond the classroom. During chiropractic school, I participated in seven international mission trips, serving communities in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti—an experience that forever changed my understanding of service. It reminded me that healing is about people first.
That philosophy is reflected in our clinic itself. Rather than creating a traditional medical office, Sunkissed Chiropractic was intentionally designed to feel like home—a warm, welcoming environment where healing begins the moment someone walks through the door. For many people, visiting a healthcare provider can bring anxiety or “white coat syndrome.” We wanted to create a space that replaces fear with comfort, connection, and trust.
That same philosophy is woven into our logo. Two hands form the shape of a heart, symbolizing compassion, service, and our commitment to caring for every person who enters our doors. At its center is the heart, reminding us that life is sustained through rhythm, connection, and love. Above it rests the atlas—the first cervical vertebra—representing the body’s remarkable design and the vital relationship between the brain, nervous system, and the rest of the body. Completing the logo is the sunflower, a flower that naturally turns toward the sun. It serves as a reminder that growth, healing, and transformation flourish when we are rooted in the right environment and remain connected to the light. That’s what it means to be Sunkissed.
Our commitment to healing doesn’t stop with people.
We also provide animal chiropractic because our animals deserve the same thoughtful care we seek for ourselves. Whether they’re beloved family companions, hardworking partners, or competitive athletes, animals give so much of themselves. Supporting their mobility, comfort, and quality of life is another way we honour the relationships that help enrich our own lives.
Lastly, Naturola represents another piece of our philosophy. Our natural cosmetic line was created with the belief that what we place on our bodies matters just as much as how we care for them internally. The butterfly in our logo, with wings shaped like the continent of Africa, symbolizes transformation, identity, and natural beauty. Just as a caterpillar must undergo a metamorphosis before it can fly, we believe every person possesses the ability to grow through life’s challenges and become who they were created to be.
Ultimately, what sets Sunkissed Health & Wellness apart is our approach. We don’t see diagnoses—we see people. We don’t rush appointments—we build relationships. We don’t believe healing is something a practitioner gives to a patient. The body is wonderfully designed to heal itself. Our role is to support, guide, and facilitate that process by helping restore function, improving movement, and creating an environment where healing can occur.
Beyond the clinic, we’ve built a community. Through monthly Sunkissed Sunday Wellness Cookouts, educational events, and affordable wellness services, we’ve created opportunities for people to experience care in an environment that feels like family. Our goal has never been simply to adjust spines or relieve pain. Our goal is to help people feel at home—in their bodies, in their health, and within a community that genuinely wants to see them flourish.

I also learn through mentorship, continuing education, and hands-on experiences, including international chiropractic mission trips that have profoundly shaped my approach to serving others.
Outside of healthcare, I enjoy books focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, personal development, and financial literacy. They’ve taught me that becoming a better business owner starts with becoming a better person. I believe growth is a lifelong journey, and I strive to learn something new every day.
