Meet Diane Galbrecht Partee of Galbrecht Eyecare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Galbrecht Partee.

Hi Diane, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised right here in Olathe, Kansas. After high school, I spent four years at Benedictine College in Atchison, earning my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.

In 2002, I was accepted to the Illinois College of Optometry. During my time there, I worked as a technician at the Illinois Eye Institute, which gave me valuable hands-on experience early in my training. My final year of optometry school took me across the country through a series of externships, including the VA Hospital in Las Vegas, Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, a private practice in Topeka, and back to Chicago. I graduated in 2006 with my Doctorate of Optometry.

Following graduation, I completed a pediatric optometry residency at the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry. During my residency, I cared for my own patients, taught students in the clinic, presented lectures, attended conferences, and created educational materials for continuing education.

In 2010, I earned my Fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry, a rigorous and rewarding process that involved extensive research, case reports, and an oral examination before my peers. It remains a great honor to be among a small number of optometrists in Kansas to hold this distinction.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey wasn’t always a smooth road. There were plenty of long days, tough moments, and times when I had to step outside my comfort zone. One of the biggest challenges was balancing the demands of optometry school and clinical training while being far from home, especially during my externships and residency. Those experiences pushed me to grow, build confidence, and learn resilience. Looking back, those challenges made the journey more meaningful and shaped the way I care for my patients today.

We’ve been impressed with Galbrecht Eyecare, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Galbrecht Eyecare is a family-focused optometry practice committed to providing the highest quality vision and eye health care for patients of all ages. We care for individuals and families in a comfortable, professional, and patient-friendly environment.

We offer comprehensive eye exams for both children and adults, advanced diagnostics, and personalized treatment plans. Our practice is known for taking the time to listen, educate, and build trust with our patients. We believe that exceptional eye care goes beyond a prescription—it’s about understanding each patient’s needs and creating a positive, comfortable experience at every visit.

We are most proud of the long-standing relationships we’ve built within our community and the trust families place in us year after year. Our goal is to provide consistent, high-quality care while supporting long-term eye health and ensuring every patient feels confident and well cared for.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has certainly played a role in my life and business, largely through meaningful relationships and timing. I had the opportunity to start my practice because of personal connections through my family, which opened doors early on and helped turn an idea into a reality. I was also fortunate to secure the location we are in today, which has been instrumental in building our patient base and growing within the community.

Of course, luck alone isn’t enough. There have also been challenges and unexpected obstacles that required perseverance and adaptability. Looking back, even moments that felt like setbacks often led to growth, better decisions, and a clearer vision for the practice. I’ve learned that while you can’t control every circumstance, being prepared and responsive when opportunities arise makes all the difference.
