Meet Devynn Boehm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devynn Boehm.

Devynn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am the face behind the lens of GravityKCPhotography. I have always had a passion for Photography, but ever since I was in high school and truly considered going to college for that I was always told that it was not a career. I could never support a family off of that or truly make an income. Until I met two individuals named Chris Anderson and Zach Karson. Both of them owned together Gravity Films which is a Professional Videography Company. I had the opportunity to help assist them in creating a very powerful video that would be aired on National Women’s Day. Through that project, we had many conversations on my passion for photography and wanting to eventually make a career through that later in life. Both of them saw talent, passion, and determination in me that they offered me chance to learn through them. After months of learning through the two of them, they then offered for me to develop a completely new side of Gravity Films and that would be sharing stories through Photographs. That is how Gravity KC Photography was established.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If it was a smooth road then there would be no growth. I have had weeks full of self-doubt. Feeding myself with lies that “I can’t do this” or “Maybe I am not good enough” but the reality is they are all lies. I am good enough because I am passionate about what I do. Every time I leave a session, I have this overwhelming sense of “Holy COW. I get to share memories and tell stories through MY photographs.” I admire so many other photographers and constantly want to grow and learn from them in this business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a mom of two little ones and the oldest of six younger siblings… Yeah, you read that right. I come from a big family. Lucky for you, that means I have had my ENTIRE lifetime to train on how to get your little ones and family to be authentically themselves. So what does that mean? That means I want my clients to come as they ARE. Bring me all the chaos, energy, and crazy because let’s be honest here… I will feel right at home.

I am passionate about all things creative, unique, and memorable. I have a never-ending desire to capture the real – the genuine, the in-between side eyes, laughs, and ALL the details.

I want my photographs to be romantic, warm, and candid. I want to capture memories and real moments. These moments are your life, and those moments deserve to be documented.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I never considered myself a risk taker until recently I decided to leave my full-time good-paying job to step into Photography full-time. I trust myself and the two individuals who have poured into me and helped my dreams literally become a reality that I know I will succeed. I know with my entire heart that being behind my lens and being the face of GravityKCPhotography is absolutely worth every risk.
