Meet Cortney Frazon of Bricks & Minifigs Lee’s Summit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortney Frazon.

Hi Cortney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I wanted to start a toy store towards the end of 2024 specializing in puzzles and building toys. Whenever I started looking into competitors, I found Bricks & Minifigs in Springfield, MO. I learned it was a franchise and thought it might actually be easier joining with a franchise instead of starting from scratch. Once I learned all about the brand, I fell in love and decided to give it a shot. I knew Lee’s Summit was going to be a great location since there are tons of kids and families in the area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth. Still isn’t smooth. I’m learning so much! The largest struggle is balancing home life with work brain. I had a baby the week before getting the keys to the location. Learning when to close the laptop at night and analyzing the best way to spend the next day can be more difficult than I thought. Especially when baby girl needs me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bricks & Minifigs Lee’s Summit?
We buy, sell, and trade all things LEGO.

We sell new in box LEGO sets that you’ll find at places like Target and Walmart. Every year LEGO “retires” certain sets and the big box stores aren’t allowed to sell them anymore. However, we can sell those sets! We can also sell pre-built sets, miscellaneous bulk pieces, and individual minifigs.

Once someone is done with a set and doesn’t want it anymore, they can bring it in and we’ll give them cash or store credit.

Our party room can be rented for Birthdays or for corporate events.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Starting this business was risky. My family has put everything into this business. It was risky starting this when I was pregnant and continuing after our baby girl was born. I wouldn’t consider myself a risk taker but I had a strong spiritual pull to start this store. I thought it was necessary to move on it, instead of letting it pass.
