Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Coppage.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography started for me in high school. I use to have a job at the local drug store and I would always pick up a disposable camera, and get pics printed for me and my friends.
After HS, around ’05/06, I was brainstorming on how I could become a professional in the business of photography. So I Came up with an idea for the name I wanted to go with. I remember writing down my nickname “Copp” and then I wrote pics down. Came up with the idea to put them together and presented “Coppics Photos” To my mother and God Mother and they were very supportive.
I was so excited to see how the journey along the way would help me grow as a person… here we are 16 years. Initially, the desire to even shoot was to capture moments, of friends and family. Thanks to social media, those pics we took in HS, are still floating around today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The thing about photography for me is, that it’s a forever learning profession. I was terrible for quite some time. I can say that and laugh now, but it was bad!
I didn’t have a desktop-only had my bro laptop, we downloaded the photoshop program before we started paying for it. I didn’t have a “real Camera” I had a very small sony cyber shot. I didn’t know much about lighting, settings, editing process all of this stuff I had to figure out.
Even still today I’m learning new things trying to keep myself sharp. I knew nothing about the business side of things, however, I learned early to surround myself with like-minded people to try to learn from. That’s been great! even now there are a few people that I will reach out to with questions on how to be better in some way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being humble, staying true to myself also having a strong desire to be better. Hunger for learning, as well as doing my best at all times! I also recognize that this is a GIFT from GOD.
I never went to school for photography, self-taught. A true passion. I can’t claim to be successful without acknowledging the man upstairs! Amen!
