Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole Sales.
Hi Cole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After more than a decade working in marketing roles across local businesses, startups, and corporate teams, I started to notice a pattern: brands often had talented people, great ideas, and ambitious goals—but they were still stuck. Stuck in strategy. Stuck in execution. Stuck trying to bridge the gap between what they wanted to say and how they were actually showing up.
That’s where the idea for Brand Repairman came from. I wanted to create a model that allowed me to partner directly with decision-makers—not as another agency layer or “advisor,” but as a practical, strategic extension of their team. Someone who could jump in quickly, get aligned, and help fix what was broken (and build what’s next).
So I stepped out on my own, launched Brand Repairman, and have been offering fractional brand and marketing support ever since. It’s been the most rewarding and challenging work of my career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge was simply taking the first step. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset, but turning that instinct into a real business required more than just motivation. It took courage, commitment, and a complete shift in how I thought about work, risk, and responsibility. Starting something of your own sounds exciting in theory, but in practice, it means stepping into the unknown and betting on yourself every day.
Once I made the leap, I quickly learned that running a business is not just about doing the work you love. It is also about managing everything that surrounds it. You are the strategist, the designer, the copywriter, the accountant, and the IT department. It can be overwhelming at times, especially in the early stages, but it also builds resilience, clarity, and a deep understanding of how every part of the business fits together.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Brand Repairman is built for business owners, marketing leaders, and brand directors who don’t need another agency. They need experienced, hands-on support that drives real results.
I partner with teams to deliver smart, practical help in brand strategy, website design, content creation, and event marketing.
Most of the clients I work with are building something new, refreshing a tired brand, or trying to get unstuck after stalled progress. They come to me for clear thinking, focused execution, and solutions that actually move their business forward.
What sets me apart:
– I work directly with clients. There are no middlemen and no bloated project teams.
– I offer fractional support, which gives clients senior-level insight without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
– I focus on execution and results, not just strategy decks or polished presentations.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise: I’ve helped organizations of all sizes, including nonprofits, startups, universities, and manufacturers, tell their story in a way that actually connects and converts. I bring a practical, hands-on approach that clients trust and value.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Definitely. I’m always learning, and I believe the best ideas often come from outside your own industry. Right now, I’m reading Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. It’s about how creating unforgettable experiences through thoughtful, over-the-top service can transform a business. Even though it’s rooted in the restaurant world, the principles apply directly to what I do. It’s made me think more deeply about how to serve clients in ways that are not just efficient, but meaningful and memorable.
