Today we’d like to introduce you to Clay Pickle.
Hi Clay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the vinyl wrap industry was fueled by a deep-rooted passion for vehicles that started when I was a kid. All through high school, I immersed myself in Auto Mechanics for four straight years—not because I had to, but because I genuinely loved it. Cars weren’t just transportation to me; they were canvases. I was fascinated by the limitless ways you could transform a vehicle’s look and feel.
One of my favorite rides was a ’95 Chevy OBS Extended Cab. I slammed it low, packed it with a booming sound system, and took pride in making it stand out. That thrill—of turning a stock vehicle into a head-turner—never left me.
In 2020, I took that passion to the next level and stepped into the world of vinyl color change wraps. It started like most great things do—by obsessively watching videos, soaking in every technique, every detail. Then I got hands-on, wrapping my own vehicles, pushing my limits, learning by doing. It wasn’t always easy. The pandemic made it tough to market customization services when the world was focused on essentials. But I stuck with it.
By 2022, I came out of that grind sharper, more focused, and determined to grow my business the right way—with smart decisions and the right people by my side. I became a 3M Preferred Installer, a milestone that helped put CP Graphic Designs on the map. Since then, the business has grown steadily, project by project, year by year.
Now, I’m taking the next step. CP Graphic Designs is launching Wrap Training programs, designed for beginners who want to explore this craft and see if it sparks something in them—just like it did for me.
This isn’t just a business. It’s a journey built on passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of setting every vehicle apart.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—but every bump in the road has been part of the growth. Starting out during the pandemic in 2020 was one of the biggest challenges. Vinyl wraps fall into the category of customization, which, let’s be honest, isn’t exactly a top priority when people are facing uncertainty. It was tough trying to push a luxury service in a time when most folks were just trying to get by.
The early days were slow. Business growth didn’t happen overnight, and that tested my patience and resilience. There were times I questioned if this could really take off—especially trying to reach the right audience and build trust without a long-established name. I had to work twice as hard to show people not just what I could do, but why it was worth investing in.
Training myself, building confidence, and staying consistent when things were quiet—that was the grind. But I kept pushing. Getting certified as a 3M Preferred Installer gave me credibility, and little by little, the work started to speak for itself.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it. Every challenge sharpened my vision and made CP Graphic Designs stronger. And now, looking back, I see those struggles as the foundation—not the setbacks.
As you know, we’re big fans of CP Graphic Designs. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
CP Graphic Designs is my passion project turned growing side business—with the ultimate goal of becoming my full-time career. While I work a full-time job and prioritize time with my family and involvement in my church, my available time is used building this brand and offering standout vehicle customization. This business is more than a side project—it’s an expression of my creativity, work ethic, and a vision I believe God has placed on my heart for something greater.
I specialize in vinyl/PPF color change wraps, chrome deletes, paint protection film (PPF), and hands-on wrap training programs for those curious about entering the industry. Whether it’s a full color transformation or a sleek detail upgrade, I work to ensure each project reflects the owner’s style and individuality. At the core of it all is my tagline and philosophy: Where Vision Meets Vinyl. It’s about turning ideas into bold, tangible results that move.
What really sets me apart is my approach to working with people. I’m known for being upfront, honest, and easy to work with. Customers can expect open communication, fair pricing, and a no-pressure experience that prioritizes quality and trust. I believe the relationship is just as important as the wrap itself.
What I’m most proud of is the resilience it’s taken to keep pushing forward—balancing full-time work, slow seasons, and the grind of building something from the ground up. Sticking with it, learning constantly, and staying focused through every challenge has shaped both me and CP Graphic Designs.
This isn’t just about wrapping vehicles—it’s about creating custom experiences, building community, and helping others discover the same passion that drives me. One wrap at a time, we’re making visions real.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely—there’s no way I would be where I am today without the people who’ve walked alongside me through this journey.
First and foremost, I give all glory to God. He’s the one who’s given me this gift and this platform—to not only build a business but to serve others and ultimately further His kingdom. Everything I do with CP Graphic Designs is rooted in that higher purpose.
My wife, Beth, has been my rock from the very beginning. She’s been by my side through every high and low, encouraging me when things got tough and grounding me when big decisions had to be made. Her wisdom has helped guide countless moments—whether it’s in navigating client conversations, business choices, or simply reminding me to stay true to our values. She’s brought a fresh perspective, contributed great ideas, and even helped develop key business documents that keep things running smoothly.
Beyond that, I’m grateful for every client who took a chance on me early on, every friend who spread the word, and every person who offered advice or encouragement. These are the voices that gave me the momentum to keep going, even when the road felt uncertain.
I may be the one behind the wrap, but this journey has never been a solo project. It’s been a team effort—and I’m thankful every day for the people God’s placed in my corner.
