Meet Chris Weston IV of International Property Brothers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Weston IV.

Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I think back to how I arrived at the current chapter of my life, I can see clearly how life will test your perseverance and determination, amongst many other things. From a very early age, I’ve always been what many would consider an introvert.

As the only child to a single mother early on, I was always with my “momz”, in my room watching basketball or deep in thought about how to build Wealth for my family in order to escape the cycle of poverty. I was extremely quiet and cerebral, I hardly ever acted off impulses. Fast forward to 2021 and you see an outspoken real estate professional, a fearless published model, and an aspiring inspirational speaker.

One of the events that not only tested my perseverance but also ignited my strong passion for real estate, was losing my childhood home due to foreclosure. At the time, predatory lending practices were at an all-time high and my mother and I fell victim. I will never forget seeing my mother’s tears as we were loading up the moving truck, without even knowing where our next destination would be, as everything that she had worked her entire life for was snatched from her.

It was that day that I decided that I would make sure that I educate myself and others that look like me so that they wouldn’t have to experience the same pain. Real Estate education is my passion and I love providing free resources to my community and sphere of influence on a daily basis.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I mentioned briefly before, life has a way of throwing tests or challenges our way, and nobody is exempt. I firmly believe that every single loss that I have experienced has made me stronger and has taught me life lessons that have shaped me into who I am today.

The single most challenging obstacle that I’ve had to overcome in my life has been losing my mother to breast cancer, on Mother’s Day in 2016. As an only child and a self-proclaimed “mama’s boy”, her cancer battle and passing turned my entire world upside down and almost took me out, literally! But I had to remind myself that we are all spiritual beings first, just having a short, physical experience here on Earth. God can release us from the bondage that sorrow brings!

Our sorrows can leave us feeling broken and defeated… But when we fully give ourselves over to God, our view of the trouble and sorrow of life changes dramatically. Once I submitted to God and changed my perspective, I began living in the memory of my mother and I became fearless and unstoppable.

My modeling career results directly from my mother always telling me how handsome I was and how I would be a model one day. I just wanna make my momma proud!

As you know, we’re big fans of International Property Brothers LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
A few of my childhood friends and myself came together and created a vision around reducing the blight that we see every day in the neighborhoods that we were raised in.

We all grew up in the same area in the old Northeast area of Kansas City and we were tired of just complaining about the abandoned houses, so we decided to take action! International Property Brothers LLC was born. We work with community organizations to locate, rehab, and flip houses to affordable rentals, or for retail sales.

We have a vision of a vibrant and thriving community with pride of ownership where business is welcome and successful. We have all known each other for over 20 years and share in the mission of positively giving back and pouring into the city that raised us.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I couldn’t conclude this interview without mentioning my pride and joy, the reason WHY I still keep going so hard, my son Chris Weston V (C5). Saving the best for last, right? I take absolute pride in being a present, active and positive father in his life.

After me and his mother went through a divorce in 2019, it would’ve been easy to allow that to be an excuse to be absent from his life. But, it was absolutely no way that I would allow our separation to keep me from my responsibilities as a man and father. I have to work even harder because I understand the effects that divorce can have on a child’s development.

With that being said, my son’s mother and I have a very positive and cordial co-parenting relationship where his best interests are our only priority.
