Today we’d like to introduce you to Ces and Lindsey Poemas de Barro.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It was during college in California that Ces held a video camera for the first time. After adding it as a second major, he graduated with a Film Studies degree, and began to dabble in working in a few Hollywood sets.

“I thought it would be a fun adventure to start my own production company on the side…so I did! I successfully ran my business in LA for 5 years. While also had the privilege of working for RED DIGITAL Cinema and in a few movies you may have seen in a theater near you. Life brought me to KC and now my wife and I get to hear and tell these great stories together!”

Lindsey’s journey to becoming a storyteller is anything but conventional.

“I’m a free spirit so nailing down a career path was a challenge for me. I took the plunge and became a Nurse! In 2018, I decided to take the journey of nurse turned freelancer and ended up in KC where I met my dreamboat of a husband, Ces. We started dating and quickly knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We got engaged on a mountain side in the Faroe Islands and it was pure magic.”

During engagement, we started dreaming of what it would be like to build a business together.

Together we created Poemas de Barro. Poems Made of Clay. Our inspiration came from a bible verse, Ephesians 2:10 where it says “we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works.” The greek word for workmanship is Poiema which literally means ‘masterpiece” and where we get the word ‘Poem’ from.

We see our work as molding and shaping someone’s story into a masterpiece just like God does with us. We hope to create masterpieces for every one of our wedding couples that rushes back all the emotions of their wedding day 10 years later.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m going to be real honest here! Owning your own biz is not for the faint of heart. There are ups and downs. In the beginning, you are doing anything and everything to get your name out there. Connecting with other wedding professionals has been so important and helpful! KC has the kindest wedding community. 🙂

Our God and his grace for us, Our family, Our friends. These are the three pillars we give our life to.

Beyond that we love adventure and travel, exploring the wonders this world has to offer, either beautiful landscapes or different cultures.

Alongside of that, a great plate of food will put a huge smile on our faces.
