Meet Caleb Hawkins of Napoleon, MO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Hawkins.

Hi Caleb, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, whether that’s been through video, photography, or design. In middle school, I started making videos for fun and shooting photos on family trips. I quickly became very interested in the whole creative space—constantly learning new things from YouTube and experimenting. When I was 15, I shot my first paid video for a client! Since then, I’ve gotten to work on tons of exciting projects from sports, weddings, brand pieces, and passion projects!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say it’s been a fairly smooth road. When I was starting out, it was definitely a challenge to learn the business side of things: learning how to price projects, communicate with clients, and manage timelines. Being young and working with clients was always a little daunting to me. I have definitely seen growth in that area since then!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a filmmaker and designer based in Kansas City, and I create visuals that help people tell their stories in an intentional way. I’ve worked on a range of projects: from weddings, athletics, creative short films, brand pieces, and social content. I’m most proud of work that not only looks and feels beautiful, but also tells a story effectively.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t necessarily see it as luck, but instead God’s hand on my life. I’m sure there have been things that have been timed well, or people I met at the right time, but I see all those things as blessings from Him!
