Meet Bruce Adams of BJ Premium Detailing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Adams.

Hi Bruce, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was a young boy in Leavenworth, KS. That grew up with parents that loved to clean, so I adapted to that cleaning lifestyle. My dad loved detailing his Cadillac everyday, he took 3-4 showers a day and shaved his head every day. So I quickly adapted to detailing cars. I started detailing around the age of 15 for family members and noticed they loved their cars afterwards. So I began to take detailing cars seriously. So as years went, I began to purchase more and more products to detail cars. My mom always supported me and allowed me to use her electricity and water. She showed my friends and family great hospitality while I detailed their cars. I detailed cars part-time and worked full time at other jobs. I decided to quit my full-time job in 2020 during the start of the COVID Pandemic and go full-time into detailing. My wife lost her job during COVID and jumped on board to work with me full-time for our company. We are now one year and three months into our business and have detailed over 500 + cars since April 2020. Our business has grown tremendously in 1 year. We have over 100 + 5-star google reviews since April 2020 as well. We are featured in community publications throughout Leawood & Overland Park. We have detailed professional athletes such as Tyreek Hill, Emmanuel Smith, Antonio Hamilton of the Kansas City Chiefs, Mike Minor of the Kansas City Royals, and Daniel Salloi of the Sporting KC.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Going into detailing full-time has had its ups and its downs. We started with no clients where we lived in Leawood, KS. We had to invest money into our business to get it off the ground. We had to put yard signs all throughout the neighborhood, which helped our business take off right away. Other struggles that we had being a mobile car detailer, is the weather. We live in Kansas where the weather is unpredictable. We are at the mercy of the elements everyday. During the wintertime, we struggled to stay afloat, but with God we made it through. Working with your spouse is also not always easy as we have different views on how to grow the business. It has definitely tested our patience, but we are learning more and more everyday how to communicate better.

BJ Premium Detailing is an automobile detailing service based in Leawood, KS. We specialize in interior & exterior cleanings. We currently are fully mobile, which means we come to the client’s home, job or other location to service their vehicle. We provide our own water & electricity as well. We are licensed & fully insured. We service the Kansas City Metro area. We are highly recommended and sought after in our community. We provide a 5-star experience every time. We take pride and making sure our client is well pleased from start to finish. We offer special goodie boxes for our clients who book full-detail packages. Our goodie boxes include hand-picked items & sponsored gifts from other local businesses.
