Meet Billy Zehr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Zehr.

Hi Billy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Zehr Goats five years ago in Colorado where I had adopted a bunch of goats and created a mobile petting zoo for kids (adults too) the idea was to create a job for my two daughters at the time Norah was 6 and Julia 13. Mostly birthday parties, and farmers markets. Everyone freaking loved it. We loved the animals and it helped me personally in my struggle with PTSD (army veteran stuff).

Fast forward a bit, I adopted five alpacas and a Scottish Highlands steer named Walter. I needed to generate revenue and wanted to get my brand out there so at the advice of a friend (business advisor) I went to the local coffee roaster in town to see about a private label (Full Billy). Fast forward through most of the drama and you find Full Billy Coffee & Art Kansas City at the Sourze Wesport (427 Westport Rd.)  where you can grab a cup of Full Billy and check out my artwork alongside many other talented artist as well. I am currently working with Art Storefronts an online marketing firm and selling at local events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Rough road, in 2019, we were kicked off the original ranch where we started. Letting go of the animals was very hard, pivoting to focus solely on the coffee and no Goats created an identity crisis for me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
These days, if I’m not painting a canvas or a wall, I am probably designing clothing or partaking in some civil disobedience of some sort.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the size of the city and how easily I can get around on my scooter. Least favorite thing is how early things shut down.
