Today we’d like to introduce you to Aziza Balitic.
Hi Aziza, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have over 3 decades of experience in the hospitality and food service industry. Born and raised in Bosnia, I discovered my drive and passion for cooking at an early age. Sharing food and cooking with love was a family tradition, with her mother and grandmother feeding not only the family, but anyone who came to their door.
After culinary school, Chef Aziza began her career in a hotel and soon found herself pulled to travel and experience new cultures and cuisine. From Germany to the US, she has honed her skills in many different food cultures.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The war in Bosnia, 1991 changed my whole life with moving to a new country with nothing. I started from scratch with not speaking the language, no family or friends. We were forced out of the country and not knowing where or when our next bite of food would be. Shortly after that I found myself being a single mother. I ended up working 3 jobs in order to feed my 2 kids and keep my home. It wasn’t easy and I don’t know how I did it, I just did in order to raise my kids in a safe and healthy environment. That was just the beginning.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In the beginning I did what I could to earn money and later took advantage of my Culinary background and worked in Hotels and restaurants. I worked my way up with hard work to be a Chef in many different styles of cuisine. I was always doing small personal catering events on the side for myself. But as a Chef it’s hard to work for yourself and someone else too. I turned down many opportunities because of this. Then, the Covid pandemic pushed me into my business full time when I was laid off from work at that time.
Catering began to take off after the chance to present my business at a Wedding showcase. Now with over 150+ wedding under my belt and countless other food events my business has been my fulltime job for quite some time now.
The rest I put in my bio on my website:
