Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Ashley Morris, founder of Alpaca Your Bags Travel, a boutique travel agency that helps couples plan stress-free destination weddings and unforgettable adventures.
I started the business in 2015 because I wanted to help people avoid the kind of travel challenges I saw with my own destination wedding planning. What began as a one-woman laptop dream has grown into a multi-million dollar, award-winning travel brand with hundreds of weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean.
In 2023, we also added Adventure Travel to the mix… we had so many past groups who wanted to work with us again, but they wanted to level up their travel. Today, we are equally as likely to plan a dreamy beachside wedding as we are a luxury African safari adventure. Everything in moderation, right? LOL
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road, but it has been incredibly rewarding. I launched my business while still working full-time and had to learn every part of entrepreneurship, from sales and marketing to contracts and client care. Then came the pandemic, which hit the travel industry hard. I had to pause, rebuild, and create a more intentional version of my business that could handle almost anything.
We’ve been impressed with Alpaca Your Bags Travel , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Alpaca Your Bags Travel, we focus on making destination weddings feel effortless. We help couples choose the right resort, handle guest logistics, and actually enjoy their engagement instead of drowning in details. What makes me proud is that our brand feels approachable, fun, and honest. There is no drama, no pressure, just expert advice and genuine care.
I also serve as an educator with Destination Wedding University, which was founded in 2018 by the late Will Medina. After his passing in 2023, I joined his husband, Mario M. Lopez, to continue the program and carry forward Will’s legacy of community, collaboration, and empowerment. Helping other travel advisors grow successful wedding businesses feels like a full-circle moment and the kind of mentorship I wish I had early on.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
What sets me apart is the mix of strategy and soul. My background in operations and project management gives me the structure to keep things running smoothly, but I never forget the heart behind why people travel. I also live what I sell. My husband and I travel regularly in our Airstream with our two dogs and two cats, chasing new adventures wherever the road leads.
