Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Ma’Ree.
Hi Ashley, we’re so excited to have you on the platform. Before we ask about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Yes of course, so during the season of COVID-19, I moved back to Kansas City. At that point due to the circumstances i become an entrepreneur. I started my journey in this field first with becoming a certified lash tech as that progressed I decided I would get back into hair/locs for extra money. Then hair quickly become my passion, As I started to gain more clientele & perfect my craft, I learned more about locs & dropped my services to only locs. As business picked up I made my own salon & transferred my grandmother basement into a salon. As I continued to grow my name, my brand & my clients, I knew to get more exposure I needed to branch out & work in a salon with other stylist. So When I found a perfect salon, I made that leap; it was everything I needed and wanted. I grew so much,But nothing lasts forever & when God tells you it’s time to move, you have to obey. So after the salon, I found my very own first suite & I moved into it, turning my business into a brand. With this move I have gained many clients, & now I am a full-time entrepreneur. I have CHEIFS players as clients & I was a semi-finalist for best loctician in the Kansas City People Choice awards. I accomplished so many things in such a short time while being a single mother that sometimes I can’t believe myself. People often ask how I do it. There is always one simple answer: God, I promise I’m not me without him, and nothing moves without God!
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, the road has been ok. It could be smoother, but not all rocky. God aligns things at the perfect time. Yes, entrepreneurship can have ups & downs, struggles, & hardships, but it’s all about how you look at them. I keep a positive mindset with any struggle or challenge thrown my way, & instead of letting it get to me, I remind myself that it’s ok & I can do it. But struggles, yes. The hardest may be staying encouraged, & not getting caught up in social media. But to run your own race, staying true to you and your style and knowing you are doing just fine. Self-seek can be challenging, but I always remember it’s me against me, no one else, and with God, we got this!

My favorite childhood memories are simply being able to be outside playing around up on from sun up until the street lights came on, just playing and being a kid without a care in the world—just being free to be me.
