Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan.
Hi Alan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At Terra Morphic Crafts, our journey began with a simple love for filling our home with plants. The only problem? We couldn’t find planters that felt fun, cute, or unique enough to match our style. So, we decided to start creating our own planters from scratch. What began as a personal project quickly grew into something more: friends and family loved them, and soon the idea of turning our hobby into a business took root.
Alan began experimenting with new shapes and designs, while Jacy contributed her ideas for the finishing touches. Over time, she went from occasionally helping to paint the planters to becoming the full-time painter and varnisher, bringing every piece to life with her vibrant colors and artistic flair. Together, we balance engineering precision and creative artistry in every design.
Today, Terra Morphic Crafts has grown from those first handmade planters into a collection of playful, personality-filled creations that spark joy and make plants feel like part of the family. Each piece is 100% handmade in the USA with quality materials only—no plastic, no imports, and no shortcuts. Every mould is created by Alan himself, ensuring originality and craftsmanship in every design. Most importantly, every planter is infused with our shared love for art, nature, and imagination.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not always! Like many small businesses, we faced a lot of trial and error in the beginning—learning how to make durable moulds, source the right materials from the right companies, and perfect our finishes. One of our biggest challenges was with our largest piece, a giant gecko planter. Our first mould attempt failed and we lost quite a bit of money, but we pushed through, recreated it from scratch, and finally got it right.
Another ongoing challenge has been finding the right balance between work and personal life—making sure we carve out time to enjoy a homemade dinner together or step away from the workshop to do activities that recharge us outside of work.
Balancing creativity with the business side has also been a learning curve, but every setback has taught us something valuable. Each challenge helped us refine our craft and grow into the company we are today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Terra Morphic Crafts, we create one-of-a-kind handcrafted planters, décor, and accessories that bring imagination into everyday life. Every piece is made from scratch—Alan, a professional engineer, designs and produces each mould with precision, while Jacy, with her creative eye and love for color, hand-paints and varnishes the planters with vibrant finishes. We use only quality materials and original designs, ensuring our work is truly unique and 100% handmade in the USA.
We’re best known for our whimsical planters—like sloths, intestines, avogatos, dragons, volcanoes or even tornadoes—that add personality to plants and make them feel like part of the family. Beyond planters, we also craft earrings, holiday décor, passive essential oil diffusers, and wedding table centerpieces. Whatever the piece, our goal is always the same: to spark joy, start conversations, and make people smile.
What makes us proud is staying true to our vision. Seeing someone’s face light up when they discover one of our creations, or hearing that a piece became a meaningful gift, reminds us why we started. Above all, we’re proud that as we’ve grown, we’ve never lost the heart behind our work—every item still comes directly from our hands, our time, and our love for creativity.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important qualities behind our success are passion, persistence, and creativity. Alan brings engineering precision, Jacy adds artistic imagination, and together we infuse every piece with joy. That balance of technical skill and artistic spirit keeps our designs original and true to who we are. Having this project as a couple has brought us even closer, and we believe that love and teamwork shine through in everything we create.
