Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Harrison.
Hi Aaron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our house was in probate when we bought it and hadn’t been lived in for 6 years so it needed a lot of work. Aaron worked full time supporting our family while fixing up our house, from everything like plumbing to renovating the kitchen. We added chickens, dogs, and a big garden, and thus started our little farm.
Aaron then got the inspiration for Still Moon Silo. We wanted to create a space that was unique in its appeal and provided a haven for people to get away from the business of life. We knew from the start that we would use our property for Airbnb.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It took about a year and a half to build.
Aaron came home from his full-time job and worked on the silo at night, and Jamie worked during children’s nap times painting and mudding. Though it was hard work, we are so thankful we did it and so thankful it’s done!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aaron is an artist and farmer at heart, however, he’s self-employed and does general constructions on the side. Jamie has her Music bachelor’s degree from UMKC and loves being in nature as well as gardening with the family. We have five young children and love to learn and grow together.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
All of our friends and family have been fully supportive of our lifestyle and the path we have that we have chosen to become self-employed.
Ever since we’ve pursued self-employment we no longer feel constrained from being able to use our gifts.
