Life & Work with Trenton Nelson of Kansas City, Missouri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenton Nelson.

Hi Trenton, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was introduced to music at a young age by my father who has passed in December of 2021. I was also introduced to poetry by my sister. The combination of both helped me learn and understand who I am as a man coming up and the direction I wanted to take with the music. Listening to different genres, different eras the storytelling made me fall in love. The pain, passion, the voice, attitude and rawness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been smooth. Coming up doing music and surrounding myself around other artist, the talent is here in the city but the work ethic doesn’t match. I tired to work in groups, build a team, network etc and I understand I can’t do everything by myself. I also had doubt when I first started but it went away performing more and releasing new music.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hip hop artist, writer, producer, engineer, design my own cover art, shoot videos, vlogs, blogs. I feel I am really know for my writing and recording. I specialize in creating/writing songs, harmonies but I am really proud of my versatility. I feel what sets me apart from others is me just being me. Telling my story in a way both the younger and older generations can relate, understand and appreciate good music.

How do you define success?
Making sure my family and loved ones are in a safe environment, financially and emotionally stable, creating job opportunities and generating wealth for a secure future
