Life & Work with Tanise Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanise Hill. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Tanise Hill holds degrees in Fashion Design and Footwear Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and refined her exquisite taste through all areas of fashion. Ms. Hill began her career creating collections for well-known national junior shoe brands.

Recognized for her original boot designs, Tanise’s styles were frequently featured in top publications and media outlets including In Style, Glamour, O Magazine, People, and national broadcast television programs including Good Morning America and The Today Show.

Tanise started her own brand, Glory Gold, with an online presence over seven years ago and was thrilled to open her flagship boutique in August 2021 in the affluent Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, Kansas.

Showcasing her signature premium leather boots, booties, and stunning pumps, this elegant store is a welcome addition that area women are flocking to. Tanise is thrilled to open a shop in the midwest near her hometown where she can share her stylish brand with its signature blue insoles and meet her customers for a more personal touch.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth. There have been several challenges along the way from supplier delays to accessing capital. A reemerging issue as a small business has been inventory management, especially as it pertains to size.

The silver lining is that I have been able to learn much more about my customer’s needs over time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Creativity is what lead me to become a designer. As an artist, I get to create new fashion ideas, design new concepts, and shapes.

In the early part of the design process, the research phase, I spend time absorbing my surroundings for inspiration and reimagine the fashion mood for the next collection. The most fun part for me is hand-selecting my materials and mixing and matching swatches, trims, and embellishments to make a fabulous design.

It really is true, when you do what you love it never feels like work.

What makes you happy?
The sunrise is my favorite part of the day.

It’s ideal when I am able to wake up with the sunrise and do a yoga session because exercise also makes me happy. Not only do the endorphins leave me with a blissful feeling throughout the day, but the larger feeling of setting and meeting goals (in all aspects of my day) also brings me joy.

Even if it is just one small goal of waking up to do yoga.
