Life & Work with Sonya Weisshappel of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Weisshappel.

Sonya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 1999, Sonya Weisshappel founded Seriatim, a relocation and transition management company that helps families and institutions navigate complex moves with empathy and precision. Dedicated to calming the chaos of Collecting, Harmonizing, Appraising assets, Organizing, and Securing what families and individuals value most, both financially and emotionally, Sonya developed Seriatim’s proprietary inventory process to help clients minimize risk and maintain control during major transitions. A Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses alum and longtime NASMM member, with over 30 years in the relocation industry, Sonya is also the author of Confessions of a Chaos Whisperer. She splits her time between Rhode Island and New York City.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would be happy to send you my book, “Confessions of a Chaos Whisperer,” or share specific stories that are in individual chapters of the book.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have built a small, woman-owned business over 30+ years, taking a disability (dyslexia) and creating not only a community of wonderful employees and clients but also a dialogue that truly helps people.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
It’s endless! I learn from all of my clients. Off the top of my head, I’d say that things really happen “for” you — not “to” you.
