Life & Work with Shane Edwards of Near Arrowhead Stadium

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Edwards.

Hi Shane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I retired from law enforcement in 2016 after 15 years and by chance got into the automotive industry as a manager of a Sears Auto Center in Savannah GA in which I had no experience in this industry. Sears went out of business and we ended up in Kansas City working for I-70 Auto Service as a service advisor. In 2021 I was promoted to general manager and soon after my wife and I decided that we would start planning to buy the business which we did in 2024. I had no experience in the automotive industry and believe this is all divinely orchestrated to be able to give back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am blessed and the road to get to where we are now has been smooth. We are grateful for that and know that it was meant to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are an auto repair facility. We have been in business since 1976 and I bought the business in 2024 after working here since 2018 as a service advisor and general manager. My duties now include working on the business to always keep us moving forward in all areas of our industry. Constantly seeking out up to date training for myself and staff. We stay on the cutting edge of vehicle technology so we can better serve our clients. I make sure the staff has what they need to be successful and keep up to date with marketing so we can stay successful.

What sets us apart is our commitment to serve. We are huge in serving our community and organizations that do. An example is we recently were advised about a single mother of six children that had the engine in her vehicle fail. We quickly brought the vehicle into our shop and found that it needed the engine replaced. Working with our vendors and my amazing staff we were able to replace the engine at no charge to the mother and get her back on the road.

Another example is that this last Christmas my team wanted to adopt a family for Christmas. I found an organization to work with on that and we adopted a family. The team was all in and we made sure that the family had a great Christmas. We are constantly seeking ways to serve and put it high on our priority list.

Any shop can have great customer service and we certainly do. My team is amazing but our true nature for caring is what sets us apart.

I am most proud of my team that has servant hearts.
