Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Rieth.
Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a wedding photographer turned Romance Author. I’ve always loved reading romances and wanted to give readers more options on PG-13 heat level books with more plot driven stories because I felt there was a space in the romance world that needed to be filled. The spot between sugary sweet, Hallmark Channel goodness and the smuttier the better. That space is real world romance. The kind that gives you a sense of hope that you can find your happily-ever-after. The kind of romances that are messy, but give you a sense of security knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel if you find the man who was made for you.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As an indie author, the hardest part is getting your book out there in front of people. I am currently working on my third book and plan on trying to do the traditional publishing route for this one.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am most known for my photography and dance. I’ve been a wedding photographer for fifteen years now and have photographed over 300 weddings. I also have taught/choreographed dance since I was twelve.
I didn’t realize just how much storytelling was a part of me until I started writing books. It’s in everything I do.
I own a dance studio and feel that my photos and dances display the storytelling aspect of my creativity. In 2017, I rebranded my photo business to Sara Rieth: Romantic Storytelling Wedding Photographer and my choreography focuses heavily on telling stories to bring audiences into the dance.
Since I own my own businesses and work from home on my schedule, I am able to commit plenty of time to my writing and creative process. I use songs to help me visualize scenes and outcomes for my books. Almost as if there is a movie trailer playing in my head for each chapter that I write. I even act out the scenes sometimes to ensure the realism of them and I believe that is what sets my books apart from others.
What’s next?
I am currently working on my third book and am going to work hard on getting traditionally represented to ensure my books get seen by even more people. Ultimately, my goal is to one day have one of my books turned into a movie. It’s a huge goal and I have to be patient, but I believe anything is possible when you put forth the hard work and dedication.
