Life & Work with Naabi Smith of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naabi Smith.

Hi Naabi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born August 15th 2000 . I was raised in a era where music and culture had meaningful balance. I was always fascinated and inspired by the greatest artists of our century Michale Jackson was the start of something for me that became more than just recreating the moves and saying “hee hee “. I thought to myself this is really cool , who is that guy I wanna be like him. And as my passion for music grew so did my interest in media . I learned quickly that the music only sticks if it’s great ! . I began writing and making my own songs with some friends afterschool , fast forward in Perdomo my very first time at Kansas City’s got talent , being of the first artist in the mid west to be sponsored by blue cross and blue shield Medical team . I performed alongside legendary Edith Cruz an amazing choreographer with a contagious way of spreading positivity, I also was in the presence of of the best musicians Kansas City has had to offer its people “ Kade’s flow a singer song writer and a extremely skilled tumpet player , after scoring 4th place i lnew this is what I would do and I knew next time I came back the spot for number 1 was going to be mine . And like all great artists great music comes with time and efficiency of extreme dedication often leaving you in awe when it’s felt on a mass level of relativity. I am Naabi kc and I aspire to make the greatest music Kansas City has ever produced.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No the road is not smooth . I’d be lying to you if I said it is but …. Heh it’s Kansas City
Pot holes will exist anywhere you allow them to in your life . Weather that be your heart, your character, you pockets , or the road , the unpreventable will happen and you can only prevent poor performance with proper preparation. I’ve leaned that no matter the journey no matter the task and no matter the circumstances the destination is what matters, I learned my present is my future and what I do today will affect my tomorrow with a purpose. These are things we all know and go through but the average artist will tell you it’s , the big struggle is money, time put into craft, and creative competition it’s very steep it can be very unforgiving and sometimes social events can be more unfortunate for others , especially if you have a lot of support it can also be very difficult to get the right people behind you . An artist must protect and nurture their brand and if you don’t you’ll run into. More struggles along the way to your destination

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I manifest greatness and success into myself my life and my environment to ensure a greater future. I am an aspiring talented up and coming independent stripclub , RnB artist in Kansas City, I write songs for bad bitches. I most proud of my support system that has shown itself through thick and thin I’ve had amazing opportunities I’ve opened up and shook hands with platinum selling mainstream artist such as ,Louie Ray, Glorilla , BrsKash , yung cat, digital underground, and Kansas City’s very own K stylis , my favorite thing to see is when I perform and the crowd goes nuts and seeing them so incredibly in tune and captivated by my words . My songs bring out dark emotional and seductive tones while keeping the atmospheric sound of an early 2000s after hours vibe . My most popular album i recently released on all platforms, and promoted through social media mainly instagram with the help of my very talented , and supportive colleagues, and content creators .. ITS NOT JUST A SONG ITS AN EXPERIENCE. that’s what I’m known for giving people

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My whole team, honestly my biggest supporter is my woman and then it’s my self and then the women I work with in the club scene along with my in city underground connections have allowed me to establish a name and reputation of great work
