Life & Work with Michaela Caedo of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela Caedo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been creating content for about six years now but only seriously for a year and a half. I started off by creating content about mental health awareness and the small, online business I had created for it. I then started doing more lifestyle and Kansas City content which is what my main focus is now. I made one video about loving all the KC Girlies that pop up on my for you page, it blew up and accidentally started the KC Girlies trend. Since then, I’ve been able to grow my community, connect with other creators and meet so many wonderful people doing amazing things around Kansas City.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The very beginning was full of so much excitement! I was just doing it for fun and then came more of the professional side of things including sponsorships, brand deals, PR. I’ve had to figure out how to balance still doing this for the fun of it but also logistics of how this all works and runs as a business too. I want to make sure I am still being true and authentically myself and don’t want this whole experience to change what I stand for. I’ve learned a lot a long the way and have had some help from other creators too!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create content showcasing Kansas City and how wonderful it is! I create food reviews from local spots, thrifting adventures, lifestyle health and wellness and almost host month KC Girlies Walks! I’m most proud of the community I’m building and seeing different friendships form, not just for myself but from other connections too! I would say I’m very compassionate and want everyone to win so I love seeing other peoples successes along side my own.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I’m able to be honest with my community and lead with kindness. I always want people to know that what you see is what you get and I am always trying to make sure people feel seen and welcomed. My top priority is being a person people know is kind and willing to share my background if it makes other people feel less alone.
