Hi Maddie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started posting on social media about four years ago when I was a stay-at-home mom. At first, I mostly shared lifestyle vlogs of our day to day life and relatable mom content. About three years ago, I went through a divorce, and my content naturally shifted to dating stories and navigating life as a divorced mom in her 20s. My stories started gaining a lot of traction, and I built a community of women who could relate to the craziness of modern dating. Now I continue sharing my wild dating experiences, while still sprinkling in lifestyle content and vlogs about motherhood.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not always been a smooth road. Opening yourself up on social media comes with a lot of unsolicited opinions and advice. When you gain a following quickly, it can be hard not to let the hateful or unhelpful comments get to you. Over time, though, you learn how to navigate it and not take everything so personally.
I’ve realized that you’ll never be able to please everyone, and that’s okay. People are only seeing a tiny glimpse of your life through a screen, not the full picture. Once I understood that, I stopped giving the negativity so much weight and focused more on the community of people who genuinely enjoy following along and can relate to my experiences.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create lifestyle content centered around dating, motherhood, local Kansas City life, travel, and sharing the real, unfiltered moments of life. I’m probably best known for my dating story videos, where I share everything from awkward first dates to unbelievable experiences, along with occasional glimpses into exploring Kansas City spots and travel adventures. My goal has always been to make people laugh while also reminding them they’re not alone in what they’re going through.
What I’m most proud of is the community that’s come from it. I have so many women who message me saying my videos make them feel seen, help them laugh through a bad dating experience, or give them the confidence to put themselves back out there. Knowing something as simple as sharing my own experiences can have that kind of impact means a lot to me.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t try to make my life look perfect. I share the embarrassing moments, the failed dates, the wins, the struggles, and everything in between. I think people connect with authenticity, and I’ve always wanted my page to feel like you’re just catching up with a friend.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Pinterest is always my go to for sparking creativity and finding motivation, whether it’s for content ideas, inspiration, or everyday life. It’s where I go when I need a creative reset or want to see what’s trending while still putting my own spin on things. I’m constantly saving ideas that inspire me, and it’s definitely one of the biggest resources I use both personally and professionally.
