Hi Luigi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Everything started with a huge passion for the art of music at 8 years old. Getting influenced by music videos of various TV channels. Music in the household was huge, whether unwrapping the plastic to play a fresh CD or turning on the TV to see your favorite artist perform on a show. I was recording music videos from the “Desayuno Alegre” show onto VHS cassettes at 9. I knew music was no option for me. The adrenaline grew into attending concerts, and a variety of events where the frequencies of large crowds would be impacted by a stage that generated a production. Quickly learning about the music scene at a young age where I had the chance to start opening a DJ business and being a musician began at the age of 13. This helped me expand my networking, doing both positions at the same time. DJing and presenting a show at local family events was what everything fired doors to open. The year of 2012 we take off on this great adventure into growing the business with no questions asked. There was no time to waste but to be investing in the business, acquiring the little that was needed to get up and running. After college, going big or going home was no option for the business as it successfully grew in a matter of time. Today I operate this DJ business called “DJ Luigi El Picosito” that includes a full production team, with not only lighting but special FX, screen panels, large audio production, and much more. Now, it’s not just about a dream or business, it’s about doing things differently, creating a style as a DJ, and uniqueness has been an important key to me. Happy to say as a DJ here in Kansas City, this city has given me tremendous amounts of opportunities. So many doors have opened, so many contacts and places we continue to take our show including several cities. Very grateful for all of our friends, connections, business partnerships, business collaborations, and especially family!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like anything else, our good and bad days were present. Some of the biggest struggles were often getting discriminated against or bashed by venue managers, and vendor operators for age or ethnicity. Our business does not entertain or proceed to allow any activity of its kind to impact any of our business performance or teammates. At one point our slogan was “Chiquitito Pero Picosito” or “The Big Short” in English for the same fact that being young and operating a business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are known for putting on a show and creating big energy moments with our music and stage production. We specialize in easy customer service, flexibility, and responsibility among our events and customers. There are different types of DJs all over the world and we are definitely the DJs who are left with the responsibility of controlling crowds for private events onto the next level of fun.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Today we collaborate with a handful of local businesses for potential growth and promotion. I am accessible on all social platforms for anyone who would love to create an event that would benefit their brand/company. No time to even think about it. I am all for supporting new and continuing businesses that would like to make it happen.
