Life & Work with Lisa Gray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Gray.

Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started out in marketing by necessity. I was a single mom trying to figure out how to work full-time and yet be active with my girls. I was asked to become a partner in an online magazine and had to jump in and figure it all out. I then put myself back through school to get a degree in web design and marketing. A few years later I have offered an opportunity a news station and within a year was promoted to the Digital Sales Manager position. Within a few years, I was working for national companies training and managing digital sales teams.

Along the way I found myself wanting to have more input and control when it came to marketing for my clients. The thrill of helping a company succeed became a huge passion. So, I started LEG’s Media LLC. Each client is unique and so is the way I market to them. There isn’t a cookie-cutter process. Don’t get me wrong the basics are the same, just not the why and how. It’s also fun finding myself educating my clients so they also understand the how and why.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road.

Starting a company in the middle of Covid has been a huge hurdle. Also, online marketing is one of the first things companies seem to cut from budgets when there is so much uncertainty. I look at each new challenge as an opportunity to learn and better myself and my company.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
About 10 years ago while being a partner to the online magazine I also started my photography company. Mostly for content for the publication. I really enjoyed the creative freedom it allowed me.

I have continued with it over the years and as of this year had my work published 5 times. With LEG’s Media, I get to use that skill when creating Social Content for my clients. I love getting to be super hands-on. Taking their vision and turning it into something more.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have had a few people along the way take a leap of faith in me. My boss at my first news station gave me the opportunity to lead 3 teams. She took me under her wing and really set the tone for my passion to educate my clients. But I have to say my children and my husband have been the real advocates of my success.

When I have had a really trying day, my husband is the one who has a hug, glass of wine and really great ear to let me vent. I honestly do not know if I would have gone this rout without their support.
