Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Samson.
Hi Lee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up singing at the Baptist church in Mississippi. I hated it, and it made me stop singing for a while. When I got to high school, I tried to impress a girl and sang to her, and she told me I sounded tone-deaf. I took it as a challenge and started diving into music creation. I didn’t step into a real studio until 2019 and haven’t left it since.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not a smooth road; the biggest struggle is finding the time to provide financially for myself and my passion.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most known for my songwriting, sound, and cultural voice. I pride myself on having the ability to write a song at any given moment to capture the world around me. My most popular songs are Wait for Me and my Christmas song, Picture Perfect. For me, my favorite released song is Enigma. It’s about addiction, vices, and not listening to the advice of your loved ones. I’m dropping an album in September called Philophobia, about the fear of falling in love. It will be a very up close and personal album for me about what I’ve been through in the game of love tied with the aesthetic of Peaky Blinders.
What does success mean to you?
That’s a tough ass question because I’m so hard on myself. For me, success would be how I impact others around me. I want to leave a positive influence on my friends, family, and my encounters with others. That means more to me than having a real source of success.
